Seat Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Seat is a well-known problem. And exactly what you should do about it is dependent upon various things. In case you want to know what you have to do about this then continue reading.
These are the most important factors to think about whenever determining whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Diesel did you put into the Seat, taking into consideration that the fuel tank capacity of your Seat Alhambra is in most cases about 70 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, as little as 3.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Alhambra will normally not really be a massive problem. Experience has taught us that an amount less than 3.5 litres (5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is quite often capable of being adequately diluted through thoroughly filling the remainder of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's rather rare to come across a car going through problems due to below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Be aware that it is very infrequent - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are some automobiles that won't stand any quantity of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 3.5 and 7 litres of Diesel in the Seat (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 condition. Our experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with it as those who don't. When figuring out whether or not to risk it and simply fill it up consider that it is very much like gambling it all on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything more than 7 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Alhambra must immediately be removed since your probability of getting away with that level of contamination is very likely lower than one in fifty - definitely big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Seat and drove it: Have you observed any performance difficulties as a result of putting the wrong fuel in the Alhambra? If so, get it emptied no matter the volume of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continuing to drive running a car that is starting to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will probably likely cause more and more damage affecting the fuel system components.
  3. Are you interested in security?
You should get it removed. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of threat affiliated with running a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible results of driving on the wrong fuel include the engine not starting, running lumpy, reduced power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and so on. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and if you notice any of them then stop and have it removed right now.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
