Seat Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Seat is a common mistake. And its remedy depends upon an assortment of things. In case you want to find out what you must do about this then keep reading.
These are the main factors to take into account when determining whether to get your car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put in to the Seat, taking into account that the fuel capacity of the Seat Altea 1.4 is most likely around 55 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, something like 2.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Altea 1.4 will quite often not be a massive problem. Experience has taught us that an amount less than 2.75 litres (approximately 5% of the entire fuel tank) is generally able to be completely diluted through totally filling the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is rather rare to find a car or truck experiencing problems due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it's rare - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are actually certain motor vehicles that don't stand any degree of contamination at all.
    2. In between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Diesel in the Seat (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with it as all those who don't. Any time you are trying to decide whether to chance it and simply top it up bear in mind that it is just like betting it all on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything more than 5.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Altea 1.4 really should right away be removed seeing as your probability of succeeding with this level of contamination is certainly below one in 50 - extremely huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Seat and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance troubles ever since putting the incorrect fuel in the Altea 1.4? If so, get it removed no matter the amount of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Still running a car that is currently starting to suffer the effect of fuel contamination will only bring about progressively more harm affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like reassurance?
Then simply just get it emptied. No matter the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some degree of threat associated with running a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely consequences of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include things like the motor not starting, running unevenly, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and the like. These are several of the commonest Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and if you observe any of them stop and have it drained immediately.
