Seat Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Seat is a very common mistake to make. And exactly what you want to do about it will depend on various things. If perhaps you want to find out what it is best to do about this then continue reading.
Let us discuss the main factors to to consider when figuring out whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put into the Seat, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Seat Leon Torro is normally approximately 55 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, as little as 2.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Leon Torro will more often than not not really be a huge problem. Experience has taught us that an amount under 2.75 litres (5% of the total fuel tank capacity) is in many instances able to be completely diluted by means of totally filling the tank with Petrol.
It's pretty rare to find a vehicle suffering from issues because of less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it's infrequently found - not impossible to find. There are actually a number of automobiles that won't stand any level of contamination in the slightest.
    2. In between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Diesel in the Seat (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our experience demonstrates that as many drivers get away with it as those who break down. Any time you are deciding upon whether or not to chance it and basically fill it up remember that it is the same as betting all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 5.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Leon Torro should as soon as possible be drained out since your probability of succeeding with this quantity of contamination is probably lower than one in fifty - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Seat and drove it: Have you noted any performance difficulties as a result of putting the bad fuel in your Leon Torro? If that's the case, have it emptied regardless of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continuing to run running a motor vehicle that is currently starting to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination can just cause more damage affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
Then simply just get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is invariably some amount of danger connected with operating a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely consequences of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, reduced power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you observe any of them cease driving and get it drained immediately.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
