Seat Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Seat is a fairly typical mistake to make. And its solution depends on a few factors. If you would like to know what it is advisable to do about it then keep reading.
These are the most crucial factors to take into consideration whenever figuring out whether or not to get it drained:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put in to the Seat, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Seat Mii is in most cases roughly 35 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, less than 1.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Mii will usually not be a massive problem. Experience has taught us that an amount less than 1.75 litres (roughly 5% of the fuel tank) is very often able to be completely diluted by wholly topping the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It's relatively rare to come across an automobile having problems because of lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it's uncommon - not impossible to find. There are a number of motor vehicles that will not endure any amount of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 1.75 and 3.5 litres of Diesel in the Seat (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our expertise has shown that as many drivers get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you're deciding whether to risk it and basically top it up consider that it is the same as gambling everything on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything in excess of 3.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Mii ought to as soon as possible be drained seeing that your likelihood of getting away with this amount of contamination is probably less than one in fifty - genuinely huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Seat and drove it: Have you spotted any performance troubles since putting the wrong fuel in the Mii? If so, have it removed irrespective of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continually driving a motor vehicle that is already beginning to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination will likely bring about even more harm affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
Then get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is always some degree of danger connected to operating a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely results of driving a car on the wrong fuel include things like the motor not starting, running unevenly, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and so on. These are some of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you recognise any of them then cease driving and get it removed as soon as possible.

Avoid getting any unqualified so-and-so to try to drain your automobile. We are Seat experts and hold the credentials and working experience needed to ensure you are back on the road with a minimum of hassle or trouble.

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
