SsangYong Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol SsangYong is a regular mistake. And what you have to do about it depends upon several different factors. If you would like to know what you should do about this then stay with me.
Listed below are the key factors to take into consideration whenever determining whether or not to get the car drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel did you put in the SsangYong, taking into account that the fuel capacity of your SsangYong Musso E is normally around 73 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, less than 3.65 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Musso E will more often than not not be a significant problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything under 3.65 litres (which is about 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is quite often able to be adequately diluted by means of totally topping the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is highly rare to encounter a vehicle having issues with lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Please remember it is infrequent - in no way impossible to encounter. You can get a few cars that won't stand any quantity of fuel contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.65 and 7.3 litres of Diesel in the SsangYong (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience has proven that as many motorists get away with it as those who don't. When you are deciding upon whether or not to risk it and simply top it up recognise that it is the same as wagering everything on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything over 7.3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Musso E should right away be drained because your probability of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is certainly below one in 50 - really long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol SsangYong and drove it: Have you observed any performance problems after putting the wrong fuel in your Musso E? In that case, have it removed no matter the volume of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continuing to run driving an automobile that is beginning to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will only be responsible for progressively more damage being caused to the fuel system.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
In that case get it emptied. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is always some extent of risk resulting from operating a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Possible implications of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include the motor not starting, running lumpy, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or blocked injectors, etc. These are some of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and if you detect any of them stop and have it removed asap.

Do not just get any untrained so-and-so to attend your car. We are SsangYong experts and have got the accreditation and knowledge required to make sure that you get back on the road with little hassle or worry.
