Subaru Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Subaru is a regularly occurring problem. And what you need to do about it is based on several factors. Assuming you want to know what you have to do about this then stay with me.
Listed here the main factors to be aware of whenever choosing whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel have you put into the Subaru, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Subaru Justy is most likely around 60 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, as little as 3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Justy will generally not be a major problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything less than 3 litres (almost 5% of the entire fuel tank) is very often able to be completely diluted by completely filling up the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It's rather uncommon to find an automobile experiencing difficulties because of lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it is uncommon - not impossible to encounter. There are a few automobiles that won't endure any degree of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 3 and 6 litres of Diesel in the Subaru (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our practical experience has shown us that as many people get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you're deciding upon whether to chance it and basically top it up consider that it is the same thing as gambling it all on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything more than 6 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Justy should really as soon as possible be drained seeing that your probability of succeeding with this level of contamination is almost certainly less than one in fifty - seriously huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Subaru and drove it: Have you detected any performance issues since putting the bad fuel in your Justy? In that case, get it drained irrespective of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Still driving a motor vehicle that is now starting to suffer the effects of fuel contamination can just be responsible for more and more damage affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Do you want security?
You should get it drained. No matter the contamination ratio, there is invariably some extent of threat connected with driving a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Possible final outcomes of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so on. These are some of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you detect any of them stop driving and get it removed immediately.

Don't simply have any jack-of-all-trades to try to drain your automobile. We are Subaru experts and possess the certification and experience required to ensure that you get back on the road with no hassle or worry.

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
