Toyota Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Toyota is a common error. And what you should do about it is determined by a variety of things. In case you want to know what it is advisable to do to sort it out then read on.
Here are the main variables to take into account when deciding on whether or not to have the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put in the Toyota, considering that the fuel tank capacity of your Toyota Prius+ is normally approximately 45 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, less than 2.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Prius+ will typically not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities less than 2.25 litres (roughly 5% of the fuel tank capacity) is generally capable of being adequately diluted by completely filling the remainder of the tank with the right fuel.
It is highly unusual to find a car or truck going through issues with less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is very rare - certainly not impossible to encounter. You can get some vehicles that don't endure any degree of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 2.25 and 4.5 litres of Diesel in the Toyota (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise has proven that as many people get away with it as all those who break down. Any time you're figuring out whether to chance it and just fill it up consider that it is the same thing as gambling it all on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything above 4.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Prius+ really should immediately be drained as your probability of driving with that quantity of contamination is probably below one in 50 - extremely huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Toyota and drove it: Have you noted any kind of performance issues ever since putting the bad fuel in the Prius+? In that case, get it drained irrespective of the volume of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continually running a car that is already starting to suffer the effects of fuel contamination will probably typically bring about more damage affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Are you interested in reassurance?
In that case get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is inevitably some extent of danger linked with driving a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, losing power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and in the event that you notice any of them then cease driving and have it removed as soon as possible.
