Volkswagen Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Volkswagen is a regular error. And exactly what you want to do about it depends upon several factors. In case you want to find out what it is best to do about this then continue reading.
Let us discuss the key factors to take into consideration whenever choosing whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel have you put into the Volkswagen, taking into consideration that the fuel tank capacity of the Volkswagen Multivan is probably about 80 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, something like 4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Multivan will most of the time not really be a major problem. Experience has shown us that an amount less than 4 litres (roughly 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is oftentimes capable of being adequately diluted simply by completely filling the tank with the right fuel.
It's extremely uncommon to encounter a motor vehicle suffering from issues due to under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Remember that it is very infrequent - in no way impossible to find. You can get certain vehicles that don't stand any amount of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 4 and 8 litres of Diesel in the Volkswagen (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has demonstrated that as many drivers get away with it as all those who don't. When deciding whether or not to risk it and basically fill it up consider that it is the same thing as betting it all on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 8 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Multivan must promptly be removed as your likelihood of getting away with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly below one in fifty - seriously huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Volkswagen and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance problems ever since putting the wrong fuel in the Multivan? If you have, have it removed no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continually driving an automobile that is starting to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination will probably only lead to progressively more harm affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want peace of mind?
Then get it removed. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is always some extent of danger linked with running a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Probable outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most common Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and if you notice any of them then stop driving and get it drained asap.
