Volkswagen Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Volkswagen is a well-known problem. And its solution is determined by various things. In case you would like to know what to do to fix it then keep reading.
Listed here the main variables to be aware of whenever determining whether or not to get the car drained:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put into the Volkswagen, bearing in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Volkswagen Polo Fun is most likely about 45 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Diesel, as little as 2.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Polo Fun will in most situations not really be a significant problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount less than 2.25 litres (which is almost 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is generally able to be completely diluted through entirely topping up the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It's quite unusual to come across a vehicle having difficulties due to under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it's uncommon - certainly not impossible to find. There are some motor vehicles that won't endure any level of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 2.25 and 4.5 litres of Diesel in the Volkswagen (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience has confirmed that as many drivers get away with it as those who don't. Any time you're deciding whether to chance it and basically top it up bear in mind that it is the same thing as gambling all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything more than 4.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Polo Fun should really immediately be drained seeing as your probability of getting away with that amount of contamination is more than likely less than one in fifty - definitely huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Volkswagen and drove it: Have you detected any performance concerns ever since putting the incorrect fuel in the Polo Fun? In that case, get it removed no matter the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continuing to drive running a vehicle that is beginning to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination will probably just result in increasing amounts of damage being done to your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need reassurance?
Simply get it drained. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is always a certain level of threat resulting from operating a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Probable implications of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the engine not starting, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, etc. These are a few of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and if you notice any of them then stop and have it drained as soon as possible.
