Volkswagen Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Volkswagen is a usual mistake. And exactly what you need to do about it is determined by an assortment of factors. If you want to find out what it is best to do about it then continue reading.
Listed here the main variables to to consider when deciding whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel have you put into the Volkswagen, considering that the fuel tank capacity of the Volkswagen Sharan TSI is in most cases around 70 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Diesel, something like 3.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Sharan TSI will more often than not not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything under 3.5 litres (about 5% of the entire fuel tank) is quite often able to be completely diluted by means of thoroughly topping up the remainder of the tank with the right fuel.
It's very unusual to encounter a car going through difficulties due to less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it's infrequently found - definitely not impossible to find. You can get a few vehicles that will not stand any amount of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 3.5 and 7 litres of Diesel in the Volkswagen (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 condition. Our practical experience has demonstrated that as many drivers get away with this as those who don't. Any time you are figuring out whether or not to risk it and simply fill it up bear in mind that it is exactly like betting your car on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything above 7 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Sharan TSI really should promptly be removed because your probability of getting away with this amount of contamination is almost certainly below one in 50 - definitely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Volkswagen and drove it: Have you observed any performance concerns after putting the wrong fuel in the Sharan TSI? If that's the case, have it removed regardless of the volume of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Still running a motor vehicle that is starting to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination can typically lead to even more harm affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
Then simply just get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is inevitably some extent of risk associated with driving a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely results of driving on the wrong fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so on. These are several of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and if you notice any of them then stop driving and have it removed immediately.
