Volvo Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Volvo is a usual mistake. And its solution depends upon a number of factors. In case you would like to know what to do about it then read on.
Let us discuss the most important factors to to consider whenever figuring out whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel have you put in the Volvo, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of your Volvo V90 is probably approximately 80 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, something like 4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol V90 will usually not necessarily be a massive problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities less than 4 litres (which is about 5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is frequently capable of being completely diluted through thoroughly topping up the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It is highly rare to encounter an automobile going through issues due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it is unusual - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are actually certain automobiles that won't stand any degree of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 4 and 8 litres of Diesel in the Volvo (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has proven that as many motorists get away with this as those who don't. Whenever deciding whether to risk it and just fill it up bear in mind that it is much like wagering all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 8 litres of Diesel in a Petrol V90 ought to immediately be drained out seeing as your likelihood of succeeding with this amount of contamination is certainly lower than one in 50 - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Volvo and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance issues as a result of putting the bad fuel in your V90? If you have, have it removed regardless of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continuing to run running a motor vehicle that is now beginning to suffer from the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will likely cause increasing amounts of damage affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
Then get it drained. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is always a certain level of risk affiliated with running a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely implications of driving a car on the wrong fuel normally include the motor not starting, running unevenly, losing power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are some of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and if you observe any of them then stop and get it removed immediately.

Avoid getting any unqualified so-and-so to attend your automobile. We are Volvo specialists and hold the certification and expertise necessary to make sure that you are back on the road with minimum hassle or trouble.
