BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel BMW is a regular mistake. And its solution varies according to a number of things. Assuming you would like to know what you need to do about this then stay with me.
Let us discuss the most crucial variables to to consider when deciding on whether or not to have your car drained:

  1. How much Petrol did you put into the BMW, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the BMW 316d is most likely approximately 61 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Petrol, something like 3.05 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 316d will most of the time not necessarily be a huge problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities under 3.05 litres (which is 5% of the fuel tank volume) is oftentimes able to be adequately diluted by completely topping the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's rather rare to find an automobile going through issues with lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it's rare - in no way impossible to find. There are actually a number of motor vehicles that don't endure any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Anywhere between 3.05 and 6.1 litres of Petrol in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our expertise has revealed that as many drivers get away with it as those people who don't. Any time you are trying to decide whether to chance it and basically top it up consider that it is just like betting your car on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 6.1 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 316d should really straightaway be drained out seeing as your likelihood of getting away with that level of contamination is almost certainly lower than one in 50 - genuinely big odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel BMW and drove it: Have you detected any performance problems ever since putting the bad fuel in the 316d? In that case, get it emptied no matter the amount of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Continuing to drive running a vehicle that is now starting to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination will likely lead to progressively more damage being done to the fuel system components.
  3. Do you need security?
Then get it emptied. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some extent of risk caused by operating a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Likely results of driving on the incorrect fuel include things like the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, etc. These are several of the commonest Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them cease driving and get it removed right now.

Do not just have any general so-and-so to try to repair your vehicle. We are BMW experts and hold the skills and practical experience needed to ensure you get back on the road with minimal hassle or worry.
