BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel BMW is a fairly typical problem. And exactly what you need to do about it is based on an assortment of factors. If you would like to find out what you should do about this then read on.
Let us discuss the key factors to be aware of whenever deciding on whether or not to have it drained:

  1. How much Petrol have you put in the BMW, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of your BMW 330Cd is in most cases about 63 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Petrol, something like 3.15 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 330Cd will typically not be a massive problem. Experience has proven to us that anything less than 3.15 litres (roughly 5% of the entire fuel tank capacity) is quite often able to be sufficiently diluted by thoroughly topping the remainder of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is rather unusual to encounter a motor vehicle experiencing difficulties because of below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is uncommon - definitely not impossible to encounter. You will discover a few automobiles that don't stand any quantity of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Between 3.15 and 6.3 litres of Petrol in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with this as all those who don't. Whenever figuring out whether or not to risk it and simply fill it up recognise that it is exactly like betting your car on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 6.3 litres of Petrol in your Diesel 330Cd must as soon as possible be drained as your likelihood of succeeding with that amount of contamination is undoubtedly less than one in fifty - truly huge odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel BMW and drove it: Have you detected any performance problems ever since putting the wrong fuel in the 330Cd? If so, have it removed no matter the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Continually running a vehicle that is starting to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination will probably only cause progressively more harm being caused to the fuel system components.
  3. Would you like reassurance?
Simply get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is invariably some amount of risk caused by driving a Diesel motor on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Probable implications of driving on the incorrect fuel include the engine not starting, running lumpy, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most typical Petrol in Diesel symptoms, and in the event that you observe any of them then stop driving and get it removed asap.
