BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel BMW is a usual error. And exactly what you have to do about it hinges on a number of things. Assuming you would like to find out what you must do to fix it then read on.
Right here are the key factors to take into account when determining whether to have your car drained:

  1. What level of Petrol did you put into the BMW, taking into account that the fuel capacity of the BMW 518d is probably around 70 litres?
    1. A small amount of Petrol, as little as 3.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 518d will quite often not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities less than 3.5 litres (which is close to 5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is in many instances capable of being adequately diluted through entirely topping up the remainder of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It is quite uncommon to come across an automobile experiencing problems because of less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Be aware that it's uncommon - certainly not impossible to encounter. You will discover some motor vehicles that will not stand any level of fuel contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.5 and 7 litres of Petrol in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has confirmed that as many people get away with this as those people who break down. When deciding on whether to chance it and just simply fill it up bear in mind that it is exactly like betting it all on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 7 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 518d really should straight away be removed as your probability of getting away with this amount of contamination is more than likely lower than one in fifty - truly big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel BMW and drove it: Have you observed any kind of performance concerns ever since putting the bad fuel in your 518d? In that case, have it removed regardless of the volume of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Continuing to run running a car that is now beginning to suffer the effects of fuel contamination will only be responsible for even more harm affecting your fuel system.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
Simply get it emptied. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is invariably some degree of threat affiliated with running a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Probable consequences of driving on the incorrect fuel include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the most typical Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and if you notice any of them then cease driving and get it drained right away.
