BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel BMW is a regular mistake. And its remedy is based on a variety of things. If perhaps you would like to know what you must do to fix it then keep reading.
Listed here are the most important variables to consider whenever choosing whether to get it drained:

  1. Exactly how much Petrol did you put into the BMW, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of the BMW 525d is in most cases approximately 70 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Petrol, less than 3.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 525d will in most cases not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that an amount under 3.5 litres (about 5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is very often capable of being completely diluted through wholly topping up the rest of the tank with Diesel.
It is extremely uncommon to find a car having issues with less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it's uncommon - definitely not impossible to encounter. You can get certain automobiles that will not endure any amount of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Between 3.5 and 7 litres of Petrol in the BMW (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has confirmed that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. When you are deciding on whether or not to risk it and simply fill it up bear in mind that it is the same as wagering it all on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything more than 7 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 525d should really straightaway be removed since your likelihood of succeeding with that level of contamination is more than likely less than one in fifty - truly huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel BMW and drove it: Have you spotted any kind of performance concerns after putting the wrong fuel in your 525d? If you have, get it removed no matter the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Still running a vehicle that is currently starting to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination will just bring about more harm being done to your fuel system.
  3. Are you looking for reassurance?
Simply get it emptied. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is inevitably some degree of threat associated with running a Diesel vehicle on Diesel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Probable outcomes of driving a car on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and so on. These are some of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and in the event that you observe any of them cease driving and have it removed right away.

Steer clear of getting any unqualified so-and-so to try to drain your car. We are BMW experts and have got the credentials and knowledge needed to ensure you are back on the road with a minimum of hassle or worry.

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
