BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel BMW is a fairly typical mistake. And exactly what you should do about it is based on a variety of things. In case you want to know what it is advisable to do to fix it then keep on reading.
Here are the most crucial factors to to consider whenever determining whether to get your car drained:

  1. What level of Petrol have you put in the BMW, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of your BMW 530xd is probably about 70 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Petrol, as little as 3.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 530xd will quite often not be a significant problem. Experience has taught us that an amount under 3.5 litres (5% of the total fuel tank capacity) is frequently able to be sufficiently diluted by means of wholly filling up the rest of the tank with Diesel.
It is relatively rare to come across a car having difficulties due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it's rare - in no way impossible to encounter. You will discover some vehicles that will not stand any amount of contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.5 and 7 litres of Petrol in the BMW (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our experience has shown us that as many people get away with this as all those who break down. When you are deciding on whether or not to chance it and simply top it up remember that it is much like gambling your car on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 7 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 530xd ought to immediately be drained because your likelihood of succeeding with that amount of contamination is almost certainly below one in fifty - definitely huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel BMW and drove it: Have you noted any kind of performance troubles as a result of putting the bad fuel in the 530xd? If so, have it drained no matter the volume of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Still driving a motor vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination will just bring about progressively more harm being caused to your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
Simply get it emptied. No matter the contamination percentage, there is invariably a certain level of danger associated with running a Diesel motor on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Probable results of driving on the wrong fuel include things like the engine not starting, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are some of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel warning signs, and if you notice any of them cease driving and get it removed immediately.

Refrain from having any unqualified mechanic to try to fix your car. We are BMW specialists and have got the credentials and working experience necessary to make sure that you get back on the road with minimal hassle or worry.
