BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel BMW is a common mistake to make. And its solution depends on a variety of factors. If perhaps you want to find out what you have to do to fix it then stay with me.
Listed below are the most important variables to consider whenever making a decision whether to get the car drained:

  1. What level of Petrol have you put in the BMW, taking into account that the fuel capacity of your BMW X1 D is usually about 61 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Petrol, less than 3.05 litres of Petrol in a Diesel X1 D will in most cases not be a big problem. Experience has taught us that quantities less than 3.05 litres (which is about 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is generally capable of being completely diluted through entirely filling the tank with Diesel.
It's rather unusual to encounter a car going through difficulties because of less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it is very uncommon - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are actually certain cars that won't stand any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.05 and 6.1 litres of Petrol in the BMW (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our working experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with this as those who break down. Whenever you are deciding whether or not to chance it and just simply top it up consider that it is exactly like wagering it all on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything more than 6.1 litres of Petrol in your Diesel X1 D should promptly be removed as your probability of getting away with this amount of contamination is almost certainly lower than one in fifty - really big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel BMW and drove it: Have you noticed any performance concerns as a result of putting the wrong fuel in the X1 D? If so, have it drained irrespective of the amount of Petrol or the contamination percentage. Still running a car that is already starting to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will typically end up in more damage being done to the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
In that case get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is invariably some degree of threat associated with operating a Diesel engine on Diesel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible final outcomes of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the motor not starting, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the commonest Petrol in Diesel symptoms, and should you observe any of them then stop driving and get it drained asap.
