Citroen Fuel Drain

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Citroen is a well-known error. And its solution is dependent upon an assortment of things. Assuming you want to know what it is advisable to do to fix it then continue reading.
Right here are the key variables to take into account when choosing whether or not to have your car drained:

  1. How much Petrol have you put in the Citroen, considering that the fuel tank capacity of your Citroen C1 Hdi is most likely about 35 litres?
    1. A small amount of Petrol, something like 1.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel C1 Hdi will typically not be a significant problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities less than 1.75 litres (about 5% of the entire fuel tank) is generally able to be adequately diluted simply by completely topping up the tank with the right fuel.
It's very uncommon to come across an automobile going through problems with lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind it's unusual - certainly not impossible to find. You can get a few automobiles that don't endure any amount of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Anywhere between 1.75 and 3.5 litres of Petrol in the Citroen (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has revealed that as many motorists get away with this as all those who don't. When deciding upon whether or not to risk it and just simply top it up remember that it is just like gambling all of it on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything above 3.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel C1 Hdi must right away be drained seeing that your probability of succeeding with this level of contamination is undoubtedly below one in 50 - genuinely huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Citroen and drove it: Have you noted any kind of performance difficulties ever since putting the wrong fuel in the C1 Hdi? If so, have it removed regardless of the amount of Petrol or the contamination percentage. Still driving a motor vehicle that is now starting to suffer the effects of fuel contamination can likely cause more and more harm being done to your fuel system components.
  3. Are you interested in assurance?
Then get it drained. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is always some amount of danger affiliated with operating a Diesel engine on Diesel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible implications of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and the like. These are a few of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel warning signs, and if you notice any of them stop and get it removed as soon as possible.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Petrol can I get away with in a Diesel car?

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
