Fiat Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Fiat is a usual mistake to make. And its remedy is based on several different things. Assuming you would like to know what it is advisable to do about this then keep on reading.
These are the most crucial factors to be aware of when making a decision whether or not to get your car drained:

  1. How much Petrol did you put into the Fiat, taking into consideration that the fuel tank capacity of the Fiat Brava TD is normally roughly 50 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, less than 2.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Brava TD will more often than not not really be a massive problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything less than 2.5 litres (which is approximately 5% of the overall fuel tank capacity) is generally capable of being adequately diluted by means of wholly filling up the tank with the correct fuel.
It is quite uncommon to find a motor vehicle suffering from difficulties with lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it's infrequently found - not impossible to find. There are certain vehicles that don't endure any level of fuel contamination at all.
    2. In between 2.5 and 5 litres of Petrol in the Fiat (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our experience has proven that as many people get away with it as those who break down. Any time you're figuring out whether or not to risk it and just simply fill it up remember that it is exactly like betting it all on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything above 5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Brava TD must immediately be drained out because your probability of getting away with this quantity of contamination is very likely below one in 50 - seriously huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Fiat and drove it: Have you observed any kind of performance troubles as a result of putting the wrong fuel in your Brava TD? If that's the case, have it removed regardless of the volume of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Continually driving a vehicle that is currently starting to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination can just be responsible for more and more damage affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Would you like assurance?
You should get it removed. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is invariably some extent of danger associated with operating a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Probable outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel can include the motor not starting, running unevenly, losing power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, etc. These are several of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and should you observe any of them cease driving and have it drained immediately.

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
