Fiat Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Fiat is a common problem. And its solution is dependent upon a variety of things. In case you would like to know what you should do to fix it then keep on reading.
Listed here are the key variables to be aware of when deciding on whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Petrol have you put into the Fiat, considering that the fuel capacity of your Fiat Sedici Multijet is in most cases about 50 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, less than 2.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Sedici Multijet will generally not be a massive problem. Experience has proven to us that anything less than 2.5 litres (which is almost 5% of the total fuel tank capacity) is generally able to be sufficiently diluted by wholly topping up the tank with the correct fuel.
It is extremely unusual to find a car or truck going through difficulties with under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is very uncommon - in no way impossible to find. There are actually some motor vehicles that won't endure any degree of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 2.5 and 5 litres of Petrol in the Fiat (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has confirmed that as many people get away with this as those who don't. Any time you are deciding upon whether or not to risk it and just fill it up remember that it is exactly like betting everything on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything over 5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel Sedici Multijet must straightaway be drained seeing that your likelihood of driving with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly lower than one in fifty - extremely big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Fiat and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance concerns after putting the wrong fuel in the Sedici Multijet? If you have, have it removed regardless of the amount of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to run running a vehicle that is already starting to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination will just bring about more damage being caused to the fuel system.
  3. Would you like security?
In that case get it removed. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some amount of threat associated with operating a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Likely consequences of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel can include the engine not starting, running unevenly, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and should you detect any of them cease driving and get it removed asap.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
