Ford Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Ford is a common error. And what you want to do about it will depend on an assortment of factors. Assuming you want to know what it is best to do to sort it out then keep reading.
Let us discuss the most crucial variables to take into account whenever making a decision whether to get your car drained:

  1. Exactly how much Petrol did you put into the Ford, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of your Ford C-Max TDCi is in most cases roughly 53 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, less than 2.65 litres of Petrol in a Diesel C-Max TDCi will typically not necessarily be a massive problem. Experience has shown us that anything less than 2.65 litres (which is approximately 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is quite often able to be sufficiently diluted by entirely topping up the remainder of the tank with Diesel.
It's highly unusual to encounter a car or truck having difficulties because of lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it is rare - not impossible to encounter. There are some motor vehicles that don't endure any amount of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 2.65 and 5.3 litres of Petrol in the Ford (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has proven that as many people get away with it as those people who break down. When deciding upon whether to risk it and just top it up bear in mind that it is just like wagering your car on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything more than 5.3 litres of Petrol in your Diesel C-Max TDCi must as soon as possible be removed because your likelihood of driving with that level of contamination is almost certainly less than one in fifty - really long odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Ford and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance concerns after putting the incorrect fuel in your C-Max TDCi? If so, get it removed regardless of the volume of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive driving a vehicle that is currently beginning to suffer from the consequences of wrong fuel contamination can definitely bring about increasing amounts of damage affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like security?
Then get it drained. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is inevitably a certain level of threat resulting from driving a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Likely results of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, decrease in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so on. These are a few of the most typical Petrol in Diesel symptoms, and in the event that you recognise any of them then stop driving and have it removed immediately.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
