Ford Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Ford is a well-known mistake. And its solution depends on an assortment of things. Assuming you want to know what it is advisable to do to sort it out then keep on reading.
These are the main factors to take into consideration whenever determining whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Petrol have you put in the Ford, considering that the fuel capacity of your Ford S-MAx TDCi is probably roughly 70 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Petrol, something like 3.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel S-MAx TDCi will most of the time not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has taught us that anything under 3.5 litres (which is 5% of the fuel tank) is usually capable of being adequately diluted by means of thoroughly filling up the rest of the tank with Diesel.
It is very unusual to encounter a vehicle experiencing difficulties with less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is very infrequently found - in no way impossible to find. There are actually a number of vehicles that will not stand any quantity of contamination in the slightest.
    2. In between 3.5 and 7 litres of Petrol in the Ford (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise has revealed that as many people get away with this as those who break down. Whenever you are deciding on whether or not to risk it and just top it up bear in mind that it is just like gambling everything on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 7 litres of Petrol in a Diesel S-MAx TDCi must right away be removed seeing as your probability of driving with this amount of contamination is more than likely lower than one in fifty - really big odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Ford and drove it: Have you spotted any performance problems after putting the wrong fuel in the S-MAx TDCi? If you have, have it removed regardless of the amount of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Still running a motor vehicle that is now beginning to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will only lead to more and more damage affecting the fuel system components.
  3. Are you interested in peace of mind?
In that case get it drained. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some amount of threat linked with running a Diesel vehicle on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Possible outcomes of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the engine not starting, running unevenly, lack of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and so on. These are several of the most typical Petrol in Diesel symptoms, and should you notice any of them stop driving and get it drained immediately.

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
