Infiniti Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Infiniti is a common mistake to make. And what you want to do about it is based on several different things. In the event that you want to know what you need to do to sort it out then please read on.
Listed here are the main variables to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Petrol have you put in to the Infiniti, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of the Infiniti M30d is normally roughly 80 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Petrol, less than 4 litres of Petrol in a Diesel M30d will typically not really be a massive problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities less than 4 litres (almost 5% of the total fuel tank capacity) is sometimes capable of being adequately diluted by entirely filling the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It's highly unusual to find an automobile going through problems with under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Remember that it is unusual - not impossible to encounter. There are some vehicles that won't endure any level of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 4 and 8 litres of Petrol in the Infiniti (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has shown that as many people get away with this as all those who don't. Whenever figuring out whether or not to risk it and basically fill it up recognise that it is exactly like betting your car on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 8 litres of Petrol in your Diesel M30d should really promptly be drained as your probability of getting away with that amount of contamination is undoubtedly lower than one in 50 - extremely big odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Infiniti and drove it: Have you spotted any performance problems since putting the bad fuel in the M30d? If that's the case, have it removed regardless of the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Still running a car that is now starting to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination can only end up in increasing amounts of damage being caused to the fuel system components.
  3. Do you want peace of mind?
In that case get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is invariably some degree of danger resulting from running a Diesel engine on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Possible results of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel normally include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and if you notice any of them cease driving and get it removed right now.

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
