Iveco Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Iveco is a fairly typical mistake to make. And its remedy depends upon various things. In case you would like to find out what it is advisable to do about this then keep on reading.
Here are the main factors to keep in mind when choosing whether to have your car drained:

  1. Exactly how much Petrol did you put into the Iveco, considering that the fuel tank capacity of the Iveco Massif is usually around 85 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, something like 4.25 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Massif will in most cases not really be a major problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount under 4.25 litres (almost 5% of the entire fuel tank) is usually able to be adequately diluted by means of wholly filling up the rest of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's highly rare to come across a vehicle going through issues because of below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is very infrequently found - in no way impossible to encounter. You will discover certain cars that will not stand any degree of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Between 4.25 and 8.5 litres of Petrol in the Iveco (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our experience has shown us that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. Any time you're deciding upon whether or not to chance it and simply top it up consider that it is much like betting it all on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 8.5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel Massif must as soon as possible be drained out since your probability of driving with that quantity of contamination is very likely less than one in 50 - truly big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Iveco and drove it: Have you noted any performance difficulties after putting the bad fuel in your Massif? In that case, have it removed no matter the volume of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Continually running a motor vehicle that is already starting to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination can definitely end up in progressively more harm affecting your fuel system.
  3. Are you looking for peace of mind?
Then simply just get it drained. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is inevitably some degree of risk linked with running a Diesel vehicle on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Probable outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, reduced power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and should you observe any of them cease driving and get it removed immediately.

Do not just get any unqualified so-and-so to try to drain your vehicle. We are Iveco experts and possess the skills and expertise needed to ensure that you are back on the road with little hassle or trouble.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Petrol can I get away with in a Diesel car?

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
