Kia Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Kia is a regular mistake to make. And what you want to do about it depends on a few factors. Assuming you want to find out what you need to do to sort it out then keep reading.
Here are the most important factors to be aware of when figuring out whether to have it drained:

  1. How much Petrol did you put in to the Kia, taking into account that the fuel capacity of the Kia Rio CRDi is most likely roughly 45 litres?
    1. A small amount of Petrol, as little as 2.25 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Rio CRDi will usually not really be a massive problem. Experience has shown us that quantities less than 2.25 litres (almost 5% of the total fuel tank) is often capable of being completely diluted by means of entirely filling the remainder of the tank with Diesel.
It is pretty rare to find a car going through difficulties due to below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it's infrequent - definitely not impossible to find. There are a few motor vehicles that don't endure any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 2.25 and 4.5 litres of Petrol in the Kia (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with this as those who break down. Whenever you are deciding on whether or not to risk it and just fill it up bear in mind that it is exactly like wagering your car on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything over 4.5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel Rio CRDi must straightaway be removed as your likelihood of driving with that amount of contamination is more than likely lower than one in fifty - really huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Kia and drove it: Have you observed any performance problems after putting the bad fuel in your Rio CRDi? If so, have it drained no matter the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Continually driving an automobile that is currently beginning to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination will probably typically bring about more damage being done to your fuel system components.
  3. Would you like assurance?
Then get it removed. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some amount of threat linked with running a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely outcomes of driving a car on the incorrect fuel include things like the engine not starting, running lumpy, reduced power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are several of the commonest Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and should you recognise any of them stop driving and have it removed immediately.
