Mazda Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel Mazda is a usual problem. And its solution depends on several different things. In case you want to find out what you must do to fix it then read on.
Listed here the key variables to keep in mind whenever deciding on whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. How much Petrol have you put into the Mazda, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of the Mazda 3 MZ-CD is most likely about 55 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, something like 2.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 3 MZ-CD will quite often not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities less than 2.75 litres (which is almost 5% of the entire fuel tank capacity) is quite often capable of being adequately diluted by entirely topping up the rest of the tank with Diesel.
It's very unusual to encounter a vehicle experiencing difficulties with less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Be aware that it is infrequently found - not impossible to encounter. There are actually some motor vehicles that don't endure any quantity of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Petrol in the Mazda (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has confirmed that as many motorists get away with this as those people who break down. When you are deciding on whether to chance it and just simply top it up remember that it is much like betting it all on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 5.5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel 3 MZ-CD should really straightaway be drained seeing that your probability of driving with that quantity of contamination is more than likely below one in fifty - seriously big odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Mazda and drove it: Have you detected any performance issues ever since putting the wrong fuel in the 3 MZ-CD? In that case, get it emptied no matter the amount of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Still driving a vehicle that is already beginning to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination can typically bring about more and more damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
You should get it drained. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is invariably some degree of threat resulting from driving a Diesel motor on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Possible results of driving on the wrong fuel include the motor not starting, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or blocked injectors, etc. These are some of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them cease driving and get it removed right now.

Petrol in Diesel Questions

When someone has put Petrol in a Diesel car they have a few very common questions. So we have compiled a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions for you

I put Petrol in a Diesel car and drove it. What do I do?

Answer

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Petrol can I get away with in a Diesel car?

Answer

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
