Mazda Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Mazda is a well-known mistake to make. And exactly what you want to do about it hinges on a few factors. Assuming you want to know what you need to do about it then continue reading.
Let us discuss the most crucial factors to think about when figuring out whether or not to get it drained:

  1. How much Petrol have you put in to the Mazda, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of your Mazda Cx-7 MZR-CD is most likely roughly 69 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, less than 3.45 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Cx-7 MZR-CD will usually not necessarily be a significant problem. Experience has shown us that anything under 3.45 litres (5% of the overall fuel tank) is usually able to be sufficiently diluted by means of thoroughly topping up the rest of the tank with the right fuel.
It's highly unusual to encounter a vehicle having problems due to less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind it's infrequent - certainly not impossible to encounter. You can get a few motor vehicles that don't endure any amount of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 3.45 and 6.9 litres of Petrol in the Mazda (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has shown that as many motorists get away with it as all those who break down. When trying to decide whether or not to chance it and simply top it up recognise that it is much like betting all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything more than 6.9 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Cx-7 MZR-CD really should straightaway be drained because your likelihood of getting away with that amount of contamination is very likely less than one in 50 - definitely long odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Mazda and drove it: Have you noticed any performance issues since putting the bad fuel in your Cx-7 MZR-CD? If that's the case, have it drained no matter the amount of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Proceeding to run running a vehicle that is now beginning to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will typically end up in increasing amounts of harm affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want assurance?
In that case get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of danger affiliated with driving a Diesel vehicle on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Possible implications of driving on the wrong fuel include the motor not starting, running unevenly, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, etc. These are some of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and should you detect any of them then stop and get it removed as soon as possible.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
