Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a regularly occurring problem. And its solution is based on various things. Assuming you would like to know what it is advisable to do about this then read on.
Here are the most crucial factors to be aware of when figuring out whether to get the car drained:

  1. How much Petrol did you put in the Mercedes, taking into consideration that the fuel capacity of the Mercedes C180 CDI is usually approximately 59 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Petrol, something like 2.95 litres of Petrol in a Diesel C180 CDI will quite often not really be a massive problem. Experience has taught us that anything less than 2.95 litres (which is close to 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is often capable of being sufficiently diluted by wholly filling the rest of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's pretty rare to find a car or truck suffering from issues because of less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is uncommon - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are a number of vehicles that won't stand any degree of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 2.95 and 5.9 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has revealed that as many motorists get away with this as those who break down. Whenever deciding whether or not to risk it and basically top it up consider that it is the same thing as betting your car on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 5.9 litres of Petrol in your Diesel C180 CDI must immediately be removed as your probability of getting away with that quantity of contamination is probably below one in fifty - genuinely big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you detected any performance issues since putting the wrong fuel in your C180 CDI? If so, get it removed irrespective of the volume of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Continuing to run running a vehicle that is already beginning to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination will just lead to more damage affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Are you interested in peace of mind?
Then simply just get it drained. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is inevitably some degree of danger resulting from running a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Probable final outcomes of driving a car on the incorrect fuel include things like the motor not starting, running lumpy, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and so on. These are some of the most typical Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and if you detect any of them stop and have it drained asap.

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
