Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a regularly occurring problem. And its solution depends upon several different things. In case you would like to know what you need to do about this then please read on.
Right here are the most important factors to be aware of when deciding whether or not to have a fuel drain:

  1. How much Petrol did you put in the Mercedes, considering that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes CLS 350 CDI is most likely roughly 80 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Petrol, something like 4 litres of Petrol in a Diesel CLS 350 CDI will in most situations not necessarily be a significant problem. Experience has shown us that an amount less than 4 litres (almost 5% of the fuel tank volume) is usually able to be completely diluted through completely topping up the rest of the tank with Diesel.
It is relatively unusual to find a vehicle suffering from issues due to below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is infrequently found - certainly not impossible to find. You will discover a number of automobiles that will not stand any level of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 4 and 8 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has revealed that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. When deciding upon whether to risk it and basically top it up consider that it is just like betting it all on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything above 8 litres of Petrol in your Diesel CLS 350 CDI must straight away be removed seeing as your probability of driving with that quantity of contamination is in all likelihood lower than one in fifty - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance concerns ever since putting the wrong fuel in your CLS 350 CDI? If that's the case, have it removed regardless of the volume of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Still driving a vehicle that is starting to suffer the effect of fuel contamination will probably definitely end up in even more harm being caused to the fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
In that case get it removed. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of threat associated with operating a Diesel motor on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely final outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor not starting, running unevenly, losing power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, etc. These are a few of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and if you detect any of them cease driving and have it drained right now.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
