Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a regularly occurring mistake to make. And what you want to do about it is based on an assortment of factors. Assuming you want to find out what it is advisable to do about it then read on.
These are the most important factors to take into consideration whenever deciding whether or not to get it drained:

  1. Exactly how much Petrol have you put in the Mercedes, taking into account that the fuel capacity of the Mercedes E250 CDI is in most cases around 59 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Petrol, less than 2.95 litres of Petrol in a Diesel E250 CDI will quite often not really be a massive problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything less than 2.95 litres (which is about 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is very often able to be completely diluted through completely topping up the remainder of the tank with Diesel.
It's rather rare to come across a car suffering from issues due to below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it's rare - in no way impossible to encounter. There are actually some vehicles that will not stand any degree of contamination in the slightest.
    2. In between 2.95 and 5.9 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has revealed that as many people get away with it as those people who break down. Any time you are deciding upon whether or not to chance it and simply fill it up remember that it is very much like wagering your car on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything in excess of 5.9 litres of Petrol in your Diesel E250 CDI ought to right away be removed since your probability of driving with this level of contamination is more than likely below one in fifty - seriously huge odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you detected any performance troubles since putting the wrong fuel in your E250 CDI? In that case, get it drained no matter the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Still driving an automobile that is starting to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination will definitely cause even more harm being done to the fuel system.
  3. Would you like assurance?
In that case get it emptied. No matter the contamination percentage, there is always some amount of risk in connection with driving a Diesel vehicle on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Likely consequences of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and should you recognise any of them stop and have it drained immediately.
