Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a regularly occurring problem. And what you need to do about it hinges on various factors. In case you want to know what you must do about this then keep on reading.
Listed here the most important variables to be aware of whenever deciding on whether to get the car drained:

  1. What amount of Petrol have you put in the Mercedes, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes E280 CDI is usually approximately 65 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, less than 3.25 litres of Petrol in a Diesel E280 CDI will normally not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has taught us that anything less than 3.25 litres (which is roughly 5% of the overall fuel tank capacity) is generally able to be adequately diluted by means of wholly topping up the tank with the right fuel.
It is quite uncommon to come across a motor vehicle going through problems due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Remember that it is unusual - in no way impossible to encounter. There are a number of automobiles that won't stand any degree of contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 3.25 and 6.5 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our expertise has shown that as many motorists get away with it as those people who don't. When you are deciding upon whether to chance it and basically fill it up consider that it is just like wagering your car on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 6.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel E280 CDI should really immediately be drained out seeing that your probability of succeeding with this amount of contamination is undoubtedly lower than one in 50 - really big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance difficulties as a result of putting the bad fuel in the E280 CDI? If you have, get it emptied no matter the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive running an automobile that is now starting to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination can just cause increasing amounts of harm affecting the fuel system components.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
Then simply just get it drained. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is always some degree of threat resulting from driving a Diesel vehicle on Diesel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Probable outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the most typical Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and if you detect any of them stop driving and get it removed immediately.

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
