Mercedes Fuel Drain

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a regularly occurring mistake to make. And its remedy is dependent upon several different things. If perhaps you would like to find out what you need to do about it then stay with me.
These are the main variables to be aware of when figuring out whether to have the car drained:

  1. Exactly how much Petrol did you put in to the Mercedes, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes ML 280 CDI is usually around 95 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Petrol, as little as 4.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel ML 280 CDI will usually not really be a significant problem. Experience has taught us that anything less than 4.75 litres (close to 5% of the fuel tank capacity) is very often able to be completely diluted simply by thoroughly topping the tank with Diesel.
It's extremely uncommon to encounter an automobile having problems due to lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is uncommon - definitely not impossible to encounter. You can get a number of automobiles that won't stand any level of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 4.75 and 9.5 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our experience has revealed that as many people get away with this as those people who don't. Whenever deciding whether or not to risk it and just fill it up remember that it is exactly like gambling everything on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 9.5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel ML 280 CDI really should straightaway be drained out seeing that your likelihood of succeeding with this quantity of contamination is very likely lower than one in fifty - really huge odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you noted any performance difficulties since putting the bad fuel in the ML 280 CDI? If that's the case, have it drained no matter the volume of Petrol or the contamination percentage. Continuing to drive running a car that is starting to suffer from the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will only be responsible for even more harm being caused to your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want security?
Simply get it drained. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is always a certain level of risk affiliated with running a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible implications of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel include things like the motor not starting, running unevenly, losing power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the commonest Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and if you detect any of them then cease driving and get it drained asap.
