Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a regularly occurring mistake. And exactly what you want to do about it hinges on various things. In case you want to find out what it is best to do to fix it then please read on.
Listed below are the key variables to think about when deciding whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Petrol did you put in the Mercedes, bearing in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes S320 CDI is normally about 88 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Petrol, something like 4.4 litres of Petrol in a Diesel S320 CDI will more often than not not really be a big problem. Experience has shown us that anything under 4.4 litres (about 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is sometimes capable of being completely diluted by wholly topping up the rest of the tank with the right fuel.
It's pretty rare to find a vehicle going through difficulties with under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it's uncommon - in no way impossible to find. There are a number of motor vehicles that don't stand any quantity of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Anywhere between 4.4 and 8.8 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has proven that as many drivers get away with it as those who don't. Any time you are deciding upon whether or not to risk it and just simply fill it up bear in mind that it is much like betting everything on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 8.8 litres of Petrol in a Diesel S320 CDI ought to straightaway be drained because your probability of succeeding with this quantity of contamination is undoubtedly lower than one in fifty - genuinely huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you observed any kind of performance difficulties after putting the wrong fuel in your S320 CDI? If you have, get it drained irrespective of the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Continuing to drive driving a car that is starting to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination can definitely lead to even more damage being done to the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want peace of mind?
Simply get it drained. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is always some degree of threat connected with running a Diesel engine on Diesel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible consequences of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most typical Petrol in Diesel symptoms, and should you notice any of them then cease driving and have it drained immediately.
