Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a regular problem. And its remedy depends on a few factors. If you want to find out what it is advisable to do about it then continue reading.
Here are the key factors to to consider whenever determining whether or not to have the car drained:

  1. How much Petrol did you put in the Mercedes, taking into consideration that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes Viano CDI is normally approximately 75 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Petrol, something like 3.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Viano CDI will generally not be a huge problem. Experience has taught us that anything less than 3.75 litres (which is close to 5% of the total fuel tank) is often capable of being sufficiently diluted simply by wholly filling the tank with Diesel.
It is quite rare to encounter a vehicle experiencing difficulties because of under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is uncommon - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are a number of cars that won't stand any degree of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Anywhere between 3.75 and 7.5 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has shown that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. Whenever deciding whether to risk it and simply fill it up consider that it is very much like betting all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything over 7.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Viano CDI really should promptly be drained since your likelihood of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is certainly lower than one in fifty - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance problems as a result of putting the bad fuel in the Viano CDI? If you have, get it removed irrespective of the quantity of Petrol or the contamination percentage. Proceeding to run driving an automobile that is starting to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination can only lead to more damage affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want reassurance?
Then simply just get it drained. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is invariably some amount of threat caused by operating a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely implications of driving on the wrong fuel include things like the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the commonest Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and should you detect any of them then stop and get it removed right now.
