Peugeot Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Peugeot is a usual problem. And what you want to do about it hinges on several factors. If you would like to know what you have to do to fix it then keep on reading.
Let us discuss the main variables to keep in mind whenever determining whether to have your car drained:

  1. What amount of Petrol did you put in the Peugeot, considering that the fuel tank capacity of the Peugeot 4008 HDi is usually about 60 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Petrol, something like 3 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 4008 HDi will more often than not not be a huge problem. Experience has shown us that an amount less than 3 litres (which is 5% of the total fuel tank) is frequently able to be completely diluted by means of totally topping the rest of the tank with Diesel.
It is very rare to encounter a vehicle going through problems due to below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Remember that it is very uncommon - in no way impossible to find. There are certain vehicles that will not endure any amount of fuel contamination at all.
    2. In between 3 and 6 litres of Petrol in the Peugeot (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has shown that as many motorists get away with this as those people who break down. When deciding on whether or not to chance it and just top it up bear in mind that it is much like betting it all on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 6 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 4008 HDi should immediately be drained out seeing that your probability of driving with this amount of contamination is certainly less than one in fifty - definitely big odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Peugeot and drove it: Have you seen any performance concerns after putting the incorrect fuel in your 4008 HDi? If that's the case, get it removed regardless of the amount of Petrol or the contamination percentage. Still driving a car that is now beginning to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination can just lead to more and more damage affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Are you interested in peace of mind?
Then simply just get it drained. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is always a certain level of risk connected with driving a Diesel vehicle on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Possible consequences of driving a car on the incorrect fuel can include the engine not starting, running unevenly, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and should you recognise any of them cease driving and have it drained immediately.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
