Peugeot Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Petrol in a Diesel Peugeot is a regularly occurring mistake. And exactly what you have to do about it depends on several different factors. In the event that you would like to find out what you have to do about it then please read on.
Let us discuss the most important variables to keep in mind when figuring out whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Petrol did you put in the Peugeot, bearing in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Peugeot 5008 HDi is in most cases approximately 60 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, as little as 3 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 5008 HDi will generally not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount under 3 litres (which is almost 5% of the overall fuel tank) is sometimes able to be adequately diluted by completely filling the tank with the correct fuel.
It's highly uncommon to find a motor vehicle going through problems due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is very uncommon - certainly not impossible to find. There are actually a few automobiles that don't stand any amount of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 3 and 6 litres of Petrol in the Peugeot (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with it as those who break down. Any time you're deciding upon whether to chance it and simply fill it up recognise that it is very much like gambling all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything more than 6 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 5008 HDi should straightaway be removed as your probability of getting away with this quantity of contamination is certainly less than one in 50 - really long odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Peugeot and drove it: Have you spotted any performance concerns after putting the wrong fuel in the 5008 HDi? In that case, have it emptied regardless of the volume of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Still running a car that is beginning to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination will probably just end up in even more harm being done to your fuel system parts.
  3. Are you interested in assurance?
Then get it drained. No matter the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some degree of danger linked with running a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Probable outcomes of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel include things like the engine not starting, running lumpy, loss of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and the like. These are several of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and if you detect any of them then stop driving and have it removed as soon as possible.

Petrol in Diesel Questions

I put Petrol in a Diesel car and drove it. What do I do?

Answer

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Petrol can I get away with in a Diesel car?

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
