Peugeot Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Peugeot is a very common mistake to make. And its solution depends on an assortment of things. Assuming you would like to know what to do about this then stay with me.
Here are the most crucial variables to be aware of whenever making a decision whether or not to have a fuel drain:

  1. What level of Petrol did you put in to the Peugeot, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Peugeot 605 Hdi is usually about 80 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Petrol, something like 4 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 605 Hdi will in most situations not be a major problem. Experience has shown us that anything under 4 litres (which is roughly 5% of the total fuel tank) is very often able to be adequately diluted simply by entirely filling up the remainder of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's rather unusual to find an automobile experiencing problems with under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Remember that it is very unusual - certainly not impossible to encounter. You will discover some motor vehicles that will not endure any amount of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 4 and 8 litres of Petrol in the Peugeot (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has demonstrated that as many drivers get away with it as those people who break down. When deciding upon whether to chance it and just fill it up recognise that it is the same as gambling your car on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything more than 8 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 605 Hdi should straightaway be drained since your probability of succeeding with this quantity of contamination is almost certainly lower than one in 50 - really big odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Peugeot and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance troubles since putting the bad fuel in the 605 Hdi? In that case, get it emptied regardless of the quantity of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Continuing to drive running a vehicle that is starting to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination can just lead to more and more damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
Then simply just get it drained. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is inevitably some extent of threat caused by driving a Diesel vehicle on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include the motor not starting, running lumpy, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, etc. These are some of the commonest Petrol in Diesel warning signs, and in the event that you notice any of them stop and have it removed right now.

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
