Rover Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Rover is a very common problem. And exactly what you need to do about it hinges on various factors. Assuming you would like to know what you must do about this then read on.
Let us discuss the most crucial factors to take into account whenever deciding whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. What level of Petrol did you put in the Rover, taking into consideration that the fuel capacity of the Rover 418 D is usually about 55 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Petrol, something like 2.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 418 D will most of the time not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has shown us that an amount under 2.75 litres (which is close to 5% of the overall fuel tank) is usually capable of being adequately diluted through completely filling the rest of the tank with Diesel.
It's highly unusual to find a vehicle having issues due to below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it's infrequent - definitely not impossible to find. There are a few cars that won't stand any degree of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Petrol in the Rover (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has shown that as many people get away with this as those people who break down. Any time you are figuring out whether or not to chance it and basically fill it up recognise that it is exactly like gambling all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 5.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel 418 D should right away be removed seeing that your likelihood of getting away with this quantity of contamination is almost certainly below one in fifty - seriously big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Rover and drove it: Have you noted any performance difficulties as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in your 418 D? If so, get it drained irrespective of the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Still running a vehicle that is now starting to suffer from the consequences of wrong fuel contamination can likely be responsible for even more harm affecting the fuel system.
  3. Do you need assurance?
Simply get it removed. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is always some extent of threat linked with running a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Probable final outcomes of driving on the incorrect fuel include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most typical Petrol in Diesel symptoms, and in the event that you observe any of them then stop and have it drained right away.
