Skoda Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Skoda is a very common error. And its solution will depend on various things. Assuming you would like to find out what to do about it then keep on reading.
Here are the most important variables to consider whenever making a decision whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Petrol did you put in the Skoda, considering that the fuel capacity of your Skoda Octavia TDI is usually around 50 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Petrol, something like 2.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Octavia TDI will quite often not necessarily be a huge problem. Experience has taught us that quantities under 2.5 litres (close to 5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is frequently capable of being sufficiently diluted through thoroughly topping the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's pretty rare to find a motor vehicle experiencing problems due to under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it's unusual - in no way impossible to find. There are a number of cars that won't stand any amount of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Anywhere between 2.5 and 5 litres of Petrol in the Skoda (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 situation. Our expertise has proven that as many people get away with it as those who don't. Whenever you are deciding upon whether or not to chance it and basically fill it up recognise that it is exactly like gambling everything on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything over 5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Octavia TDI ought to immediately be drained seeing that your likelihood of getting away with this quantity of contamination is certainly lower than one in fifty - definitely long odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Skoda and drove it: Have you noted any kind of performance problems after putting the bad fuel in your Octavia TDI? If that's the case, get it drained irrespective of the volume of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Continuing to run running a car that is already beginning to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination will likely be responsible for even more harm being caused to the fuel system.
  3. Are you looking for peace of mind?
In that case get it drained. No matter the contamination ratio, there is always some degree of risk affiliated with running a Diesel motor on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely results of driving on the incorrect fuel include things like the engine not starting, running unevenly, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or blocked injectors, and the like. These are several of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel symptoms, and if you observe any of them stop and have it drained immediately.
