SsangYong Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel SsangYong is a regularly occurring error. And what you should do about it hinges on a number of things. If perhaps you want to find out what you should do to sort it out then keep on reading.
Right here are the key variables to keep in mind when making a decision whether or not to have your car drained:

  1. How much Petrol did you put in to the SsangYong, taking into consideration that the fuel capacity of your SsangYong Musso 230 is most likely approximately 75 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, as little as 3.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Musso 230 will more often than not not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has taught us that an amount under 3.75 litres (approximately 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is sometimes capable of being adequately diluted by entirely topping the remainder of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is rather rare to find a vehicle going through problems because of below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is very uncommon - definitely not impossible to find. You can get some cars that won't endure any quantity of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 3.75 and 7.5 litres of Petrol in the SsangYong (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has revealed that as many drivers get away with this as those who break down. Any time you're deciding on whether to risk it and simply fill it up remember that it is much like gambling it all on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything over 7.5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel Musso 230 really should immediately be drained seeing that your probability of getting away with this amount of contamination is in all likelihood less than one in fifty - truly big odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel SsangYong and drove it: Have you seen any performance difficulties ever since putting the incorrect fuel in your Musso 230? If that's the case, get it removed no matter the volume of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Continuing to run driving a motor vehicle that is starting to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination will definitely cause increasing amounts of harm affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like reassurance?
In that case get it drained. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some amount of danger connected to operating a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Likely implications of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor not starting, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, etc. These are several of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and should you notice any of them then stop driving and get it drained right away.

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
