SsangYong Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel SsangYong is a regular mistake to make. And what you want to do about it is dependent upon several different factors. In case you would like to know what to do about this then stay with me.
These are the most important variables to consider when deciding whether to have it drained:

  1. How much Petrol have you put in the SsangYong, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of the SsangYong Musso 290 is probably around 75 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Petrol, less than 3.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Musso 290 will in most situations not necessarily be a significant problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities less than 3.75 litres (approximately 5% of the total fuel tank) is very often able to be sufficiently diluted by means of completely topping up the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It's very uncommon to find a vehicle going through issues with under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is very infrequent - in no way impossible to encounter. You will discover certain motor vehicles that will not stand any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.75 and 7.5 litres of Petrol in the SsangYong (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you are deciding whether or not to chance it and just top it up remember that it is very much like betting it all on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 7.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Musso 290 must straight away be drained out seeing as your likelihood of driving with this amount of contamination is very likely lower than one in 50 - extremely huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel SsangYong and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance troubles as a result of putting the bad fuel in the Musso 290? In that case, get it removed no matter the amount of Petrol or even the contamination ratio. Continually running an automobile that is now starting to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination can only result in more harm affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need security?
Simply get it removed. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of danger resulting from running a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely consequences of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the engine not starting, running lumpy, decrease in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, and the like. These are several of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel warning signs, and should you recognise any of them then stop and get it removed asap.

Do not simply have any unqualified so-and-so to attend your car. We are SsangYong experts and have the skills and experience needed to make certain that you get back on the road with no hassle or trouble.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
