Toyota Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Toyota is a well-known problem. And exactly what you should do about it is determined by several different factors. If perhaps you want to find out what to do about this then continue reading.
These are the most important variables to be aware of when figuring out whether or not to have your car drained:

  1. What level of Petrol have you put into the Toyota, taking into consideration that the fuel tank capacity of the Toyota Corolla D-4D is usually roughly 55 litres?
    1. Hardly any Petrol, something like 2.75 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Corolla D-4D will generally not be a significant problem. Experience has taught us that anything under 2.75 litres (which is 5% of the overall fuel tank capacity) is in many instances able to be sufficiently diluted through entirely topping up the tank with Diesel.
It is rather unusual to find a car having difficulties due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it's unusual - certainly not impossible to find. You can get certain cars that won't endure any level of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Petrol in the Toyota (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has shown us that as many people get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you are deciding whether or not to risk it and basically fill it up recognise that it is much like gambling all of it on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 5.5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel Corolla D-4D should really straightaway be removed seeing as your likelihood of succeeding with this amount of contamination is undoubtedly lower than one in fifty - seriously long odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Toyota and drove it: Have you noticed any performance concerns as a result of putting the bad fuel in your Corolla D-4D? If so, get it drained regardless of the volume of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Proceeding to run running a car that is beginning to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination will typically end up in progressively more harm being caused to your fuel system components.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
Then simply just get it drained. No matter the contamination ratio, there is invariably a certain level of danger caused by driving a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible consequences of driving a car on the wrong fuel include the engine not starting, running unevenly, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and the like. These are some of the commonest Petrol in Diesel warning signs, and in the event that you recognise any of them cease driving and have it drained right now.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
