Volkswagen Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Volkswagen is a common error. And what you want to do about it depends upon an assortment of factors. In case you would like to find out what you have to do about it then read on.
Listed here are the most crucial factors to consider when deciding whether or not to have a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Petrol did you put in the Volkswagen, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of the Volkswagen CC TDI is usually approximately 70 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Petrol, something like 3.5 litres of Petrol in a Diesel CC TDI will in most situations not be a massive problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount less than 3.5 litres (which is roughly 5% of the total fuel tank) is in many instances capable of being completely diluted by means of thoroughly topping up the remainder of the tank with Diesel.
It is pretty unusual to come across a vehicle suffering from problems because of below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Remember that it's unusual - in no way impossible to encounter. You will discover a few vehicles that will not stand any degree of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 3.5 and 7 litres of Petrol in the Volkswagen (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience demonstrates that as many people get away with this as those people who break down. Whenever deciding whether to risk it and basically fill it up recognise that it is much like gambling everything on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything in excess of 7 litres of Petrol in a Diesel CC TDI really should straight away be drained seeing as your probability of driving with that amount of contamination is probably lower than one in fifty - seriously long odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Volkswagen and drove it: Have you spotted any kind of performance issues since putting the bad fuel in your CC TDI? If you have, get it removed regardless of the quantity of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Still running a car that is beginning to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination can only end up in even more harm being caused to the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need reassurance?
In that case get it drained. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is always some amount of threat caused by driving a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with Petrol. Probable consequences of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel normally include the motor not starting, running unevenly, decrease in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, etc. These are a few of the commonest Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and should you detect any of them cease driving and have it removed as soon as possible.
