Volkswagen Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Volkswagen is a well-known mistake to make. And its solution is determined by various things. Assuming you want to find out what it is advisable to do about it then keep reading.
These are the most crucial factors to to consider when choosing whether to get the car drained:

  1. What amount of Petrol did you put in the Volkswagen, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of the Volkswagen Caravelle TD is in most cases around 80 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Petrol, as little as 4 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Caravelle TD will in most cases not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has taught us that anything under 4 litres (5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is frequently capable of being adequately diluted by means of entirely topping the tank with the correct fuel.
It's quite unusual to find a motor vehicle going through issues due to under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is very uncommon - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are a number of vehicles that will not endure any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 4 and 8 litres of Petrol in the Volkswagen (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you're deciding upon whether or not to risk it and just simply top it up remember that it is the same thing as betting everything on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything over 8 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Caravelle TD really should straightaway be drained seeing that your probability of driving with this level of contamination is more than likely lower than one in 50 - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Volkswagen and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance concerns after putting the bad fuel in your Caravelle TD? If that's the case, have it drained irrespective of the amount of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Continually driving a motor vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination will probably just bring about progressively more harm being caused to your fuel system.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
Then get it drained. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of threat affiliated with driving a Diesel motor on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Possible consequences of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel normally include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, loss of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so on. These are some of the most common Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and should you recognise any of them then cease driving and get it drained right now.
