Volvo Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Volvo is a common error. And what you need to do about it will depend on a few things. Assuming you would like to find out what you must do about it then keep reading.
Listed here are the most important factors to think about whenever figuring out whether or not to have it drained:

  1. What level of Petrol have you put in to the Volvo, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of your Volvo V60 D2 is in most cases approximately 68 litres?
    1. A small amount of Petrol, as little as 3.4 litres of Petrol in a Diesel V60 D2 will usually not be a big problem. Experience has shown us that quantities under 3.4 litres (which is about 5% of the fuel tank) is in many instances capable of being sufficiently diluted simply by totally filling the remainder of the tank with the right fuel.
It's relatively unusual to come across a car suffering from difficulties due to below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Remember that it is very unusual - certainly not impossible to encounter. You can get some vehicles that won't endure any quantity of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. In between 3.4 and 6.8 litres of Petrol in the Volvo (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our practical experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with this as those people who break down. When you are deciding whether to risk it and basically top it up remember that it is the same as wagering it all on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything over 6.8 litres of Petrol in a Diesel V60 D2 should promptly be drained out as your probability of getting away with that quantity of contamination is more than likely lower than one in fifty - truly big odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Volvo and drove it: Have you observed any kind of performance troubles as a result of putting the wrong fuel in your V60 D2? If that's the case, have it emptied no matter the amount of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to run driving a motor vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination can only bring about more damage affecting the fuel system.
  3. Do you want reassurance?
You should get it removed. No matter the contamination ratio, there is invariably some extent of threat caused by driving a Diesel vehicle on fuel contaminated with Petrol. Possible outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include things like the motor not starting, running unevenly, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most frequently seen Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and should you observe any of them cease driving and have it removed right now.
