# Eastfield: AdBlue in the Diesel Tank? Leave It Off

If AdBlue has got into your diesel tank, leave your motor off and keep your ignition off.

Water with urea mixed in it: that's AdBlue.

Unlike fuel, it neither burns nor mixes, and no harm happens until the engine pulls it through.

Caught before your motor has run, AdBlue in a diesel tank is usually a drain and a thorough flush, done where your car is in Eastfield.

Before you do anything else, call 0333 366 0103.

## AdBlue in your diesel tank in Eastfield: the first few minutes

Things to do:

- Pull the keys out, so nobody switches your ignition on.

- Near moving traffic? Then put the hazard lights on.

- Keep the receipt or the empty bottle, so you can tell us what got in and about how much.

- Our van locates you fastest with a postcode starting YO11 3, or simply the name of a street nearby, so phone from the spot.

Things not to do:

- Moving the car even a few yards is no reason to fire up your engine.

- Don't switch the ignition on. On plenty of diesels that alone runs the fuel pump.

- Don't top up with diesel to dilute it. AdBlue does not mix in diesel; it separates out.

- Do not drive the car anywhere, not even a short stretch down Holme Hill.

- No draining it yourself, at all, at the roadside.

At a forecourt around Eastfield, whether it is the Morrisons or another one, ask the staff to help you roll your car clear of the pump.

If you are on your own drive, leave the vehicle exactly where it is.

## AdBlue in a diesel tank: what it does

AdBlue is made for the exhaust, not the motor.

Kept in a separate tank, it is squirted into the exhaust stream to clean the fumes.

Nothing in it is meant to pass through a fuel pump, and nothing in a fuel pump is made to handle it.

Poured in with the diesel, it stays separate rather than blending — entirely different from fuel.

It is heavier than diesel, and so it sinks and collects at the bottom of your tank, which is where the pickup pulls fuel from.

A car topped up on a driveway in Seamer overnight and left unstarted counts as the simple case. Nothing has pulled the AdBlue up yet — but when the motor turns, that is what goes first, straight from the bottom of your tank.

From there it causes two kinds of damage.

What remains once the water goes is urea, which forms crystals: they settle in tiny channels and clog filters. Worse, it eats at certain metals in the fuel system, and carries on until it is cleared out.

Pipes holding AdBlue spell damage by morning for a vehicle parked around Eastfield. Just in that tank, it stays the same.

Diesel protects the high-pressure pump and each injector as it flows; water offers none of that, which is a separate kind of harm.

## Why AdBlue in a diesel is frequently more significant than petrol

Petrol put into a diesel on Esso's forecourt leaves your fuel thin — that is the main problem.

It mixes with your diesel, and whilst it is inside that tank it causes no harm; the harm comes from running the motor on it.

With AdBlue in a diesel, the liquid as such is simply the wrong one.

Not burning, it can't just be run through.

Whether the vehicle is in Wheatcroft or the centre of Eastfield, turning it over "to see" does more harm with AdBlue than nearly any other slip, and the flush counts more. The reasons: it won't remain mixed, so diluting it is impossible; and deposits and corrosion survive the following tankful.

As with petrol, there's good news.

Wherever across North Yorkshire the car has come to rest, an unstarted engine means the AdBlue still in the tank: the simplest part of any fuel system to empty.

## AdBlue in a diesel tank around Eastfield: how it ends up there

Many motors place the AdBlue filler beside the diesel one, occasionally behind one flap, and in dim light the two may appear identical. Nobody intends it.

Mostly it's never the forecourt: a driver buys a bottle driving home and tips it in outside the house.

Mostly, it occurs in one of a couple of familiar ways.

Hurrying, outside Braeburn Primary and Nursery Academy, after a warning light came on during the school run, someone tops up the vehicle.

Close to Cayton Low Road, someone pours a bottle in at home after work.

Or the car is topped up in the car park at Byways, in poor light, by somebody who has never opened that flap before.

Rented motors, brand-new motors, fleet vehicles, or the second vehicle in a family with both fuels: the least known cars get it the most.

Keep it switched off: that is the first step to the same mistake, anywhere around Eastfield or the rest of North Yorkshire you happen to be.

## Already started the motor with AdBlue in your diesel tank around Eastfield?

In that case, the AdBlue is no longer in your tank.

The filter and lines have had it sucked through, and any running time carries it on to the injection pump and every injector.

Rough running, smoke from the exhaust, lost power, dashboard warnings or cutting out: any may show up, perhaps midway across Eastfield or returning from Burton Riggs Nature Reserve.

When safe, stop then switch it off — with no turning it on again to see.

Every start pulls more of that through.

On the Petuaria Way, under 50 miles from Eastfield, the first junction is where to leave, and somewhere sensible is where to stop — not carrying on.

Hopping across Eastfield to the car park by Holy Nativity is one matter; heading towards York, under 50 miles away, is another, since every mile pushes the AdBlue deeper in. So distance counts.

Tell us roughly how far it had come.

There is more to rinse out once the motor has run, and our engineers do all of it where the car has stopped.

Noticed quickly, it very rarely leaves long-term damage.

## Eastfield: how AdBlue is cleared from a diesel

The car remains where it is, whether that's a street beside Eastfield Community Centre, a drive, a layby or a forecourt around Eastfield, and the van comes to it.

The work rests on three replies, which our technicians ask for first — which fluid was put in, the amount, and if the engine has turned over.

Right there, the tank is then emptied, and both the contaminated diesel and the urea leave at once.

What remains from AdBlue will not flush out by itself, and so the fuel system gets a full flush, which matters far more here than for petrol.

A test of the car comes at the end, after clean diesel is added and your filter is flushed or, where necessary, replaced.

The majority of these jobs are a half-hour job once our engineers arrive, if the engine has not run.

Explosion-proof pumps make a busy forecourt safe to work on, and they run quiet enough not to disturb the street at night.

Fresh diesel goes in to prime the fuel system, and that's the last step.

Firing it up comes next, and then you head off from where your car is parked, at Seamer or on a drive around Eastfield.

Before we leave, our technicians check it's running correctly with clean diesel in.

As the job is done in full where the vehicle is, a workshop never comes into it.

Afterwards, you are given the paperwork for the insurer: a VAT invoice plus a written report from the engineer.

## About Eastfield itself

Eastfield is a suburban area located on the coast of North Yorkshire, with a relatively low elevation of 39 metres. Eastfield sits near several nearby places, including Crossgates, Cayton, and Osgodby, and is approximately 33.5 miles away from the city of York. Eastfield has a population of around 3293 people and is characterised by predominantly semi-detached housing. Eastfield is also situated at a distance of 189.1 miles from London.

## AdBlue drains across North Yorkshire, Eastfield included

The vans that answer AdBlue calls around Eastfield also cover the places around it, Crossgates, Cayton and Osgodby among them, and most of North Yorkshire beyond, across the YO postcode area.

If you're close to a border, or somewhere hard to describe, ring and ask rather than guessing.

No towing is needed. In Eastfield, a residential suburb, a van that comes to you works: your car is emptied where it stands, be it on a driveway, a residential street, a car park or a forecourt.

## Eastfield: what AdBlue in a diesel tank costs to fix

Since the callouts differ, a flat price wouldn't be fair.

What moves the cost is, first of all, whether your engine has been running and for how long; then how much AdBlue was put in; and then where the car is and whether our van can get to it safely, which is simpler on an open driveway than in a tight space behind Eastfield Library.

That is why every call from Eastfield starts with the same three questions, asked before giving a figure, not after: what was put in, how much, and whether it's run.

Those answers turn a range into a straight price.

You get that price on the phone, before anybody sets off, and you pay on the day, by card or by phone, with nothing upfront.

Check your insurance whilst we are on the way: many include misfuelling cover.

## Eastfield: still alongside the car?

In that case, touch nothing — that is the most helpful step available.

Engine off, keys out, ignition off.

Say it was AdBlue, about how big an amount, and if it ran, on 0333 366 0103. From there Petrol in Diesel takes over, across Eastfield or wherever within North Yorkshire.
