# AdBlue in the Diesel Tank in Marlborough? Keep It Switched Off

Engine off, ignition off: that's where you start if AdBlue has got into your diesel tank.

Urea dissolved in water is all AdBlue is.

The harm starts once it's pulled through the pump — it will not burn, and it won't blend with diesel.

Caught before the motor has run, AdBlue in a diesel tank is generally a drain and a thorough flush, done where the car is in Marlborough.

Before you do anything else, phone 0333 366 0103.

## Your next steps right now, Marlborough: AdBlue in your diesel tank

To do:

- So nobody can switch the ignition on, take the keys away.

- Close to moving traffic? Then put your hazards on.

- The empty bottle or the till receipt shows us the fluid and the amount, and so do not throw it out.

- Our van locates you fastest with a postcode starting SN8 1, or just the name of a street close by, and so call from the car.

Do not do these:

- Not even briefly, and not to shift your vehicle: your engine remains off.

- Switching the key to ignition alone starts your pump running on many diesels. Avoid it.

- Adding extra diesel doesn't work: AdBlue settles out instead of blending.

- Any driving at all is to be avoided, even a short stretch up Oxford Street.

- Emptying that tank on your own by the road is not one to try.

The attendants working at any Marlborough forecourt — the Esso included — will usually lend a hand rolling it clear if you ask.

On that drive, the car remains exactly as it is.

## AdBlue in a diesel tank: what it does

The engine isn't what AdBlue is made for; your exhaust is.

From a separate reservoir it is fed straight to your exhaust, treating what your motor emits.

No part inside a fuel pump is made for this liquid — and none of that was intended to travel that way.

Inside a diesel tank it acts very differently from fuel. It does not mix in.

Denser than diesel, it sinks and pools below it — the same spot the intake sucks from.

Simplest of all: one that got AdBlue in Clatford overnight and hasn't been started since. The AdBlue waits at the base of the tank, undrawn — but it would be first through once the motor starts, ahead of any diesel at all.

Once it's pulled in, the harm takes two forms.

Crystals and corrosion. As the water dries, it strands urea that crystallises in filter elements and tiny passages; meanwhile, because it eats at certain metals, every part it touches suffers for as long as it stays in there.

Pipes carrying AdBlue spell harm by morning for a vehicle parked around Marlborough. Just in the tank, it stays the same.

The water in it does harm of its own: the high-pressure fuel pump and the fuel injectors rely on diesel to lubricate them, and water gives them nothing.

## Why AdBlue in a diesel is regularly more significant than petrol

Petrol pumped into a diesel on BP's forecourt leaves your fuel watery — that is the whole problem.

Mixed through your diesel and left unused, it is harmless for now; using the motor does the damage.

With AdBlue in a diesel, the fluid as such is plainly the wrong one.

It can't simply be run through, since it doesn't burn.

Deposits and corrosion remain after the next tankful, and AdBlue separates back out of the diesel, and so watering it can't help. Hence the flush matters more, and trying the engine "to see" does more harm with AdBlue than nearly any other mistake — in Ogbourne St Andrew or the heart of Marlborough equally.

The good news is the same as with petrol.

Emptying a tank is the easiest job on any fuel system, and without running, the AdBlue stays in there — anywhere in Wiltshire your vehicle has stopped.

## Marlborough: how AdBlue ends up in a diesel tank

Plenty of motors place the AdBlue cap beside the diesel one, now and then under one flap, and in dim light the two can appear the same. No one means it.

It usually occurs at home, from a bottle bought on the journey home, not at the filling station.

It tends to take place in a couple of familiar ways.

Hurrying, outside Marlborough St Mary's CE Primary School, after a warning lamp flashed on during the school run, a parent refills the car.

After work, a container goes in on a driveway near Kingsbury Street.

Else, in dim light outside The Bear, the car is refilled by someone opening that flap the first time.

Hired cars, new motors, company motors, or the second car in a home with one of each: the least known vehicles get it most.

Same mistake, an identical first response — leave it off — wherever you are around Marlborough or the remainder of Wiltshire.

## Already started the engine with AdBlue in your diesel tank around Marlborough?

Then the AdBlue has left that tank.

With any running time, it travels to the injection pump and each injector, after passing through the filter and lines.

Watch for lumpy running, exhaust smoke, falling power, warnings on your dash, or a stall — coming back from St Mary's Churchyard, perhaps, or midway across Marlborough.

Stop as soon as it is safe, switch off, and do not restart the car to check.

Every start pulls more of it through.

Marlborough sits under 10 miles from the M4; if you were on it, leave by the first junction and pull up somewhere safe instead of carrying on.

Mileage matters: each mile carries the AdBlue deeper into the system, so driving for Salisbury, under 25 miles away, gives a far bigger job than crossing Marlborough to the car park by Marlborough Town Hall.

Tell us about how far it had come.

Our engineers do all of the cleaning where the vehicle has ended up, and once the motor has been run there is more of it.

Spotted early, it very rarely leaves lasting damage.

## Clearing AdBlue in a diesel in Marlborough: what it takes

A road beside St Mary's Church, Marlborough, a driveway, a lay-by or a filling station: anywhere your car has stopped around Marlborough, our technicians travel to it.

The job rests on three answers, which we ask for first — which fluid went in, the quantity, and whether the engine has run.

Then the tank is cleared where the vehicle stands, and so the tainted fuel and the AdBlue come out together.

With AdBlue, more so than with petrol, flushing matters: the fuel system is cleaned right through because what remains won't wash out unaided.

Next, the fuel filter: flushed, or replaced if it has to be. After that clean diesel, then a test of your car.

Engine not run? In that case expect about half an hour on site for most jobs.

The pumping gear is explosion-proof, and so a busy filling station is no fault, and it is hushed enough for a residential street after dark.

Last, the system is primed with new diesel.

You set off as soon as our engineers have started the engine, and it makes no difference whether the car is on a driveway in Marlborough or in a space outside Pewsey.

It is tested on fresh diesel to confirm it runs correctly before we leave.

The entire job is done where your car is, so it never has to go to a workshop.

Insurers want a VAT invoice and an engineer report, and you get both afterwards.

## About Marlborough, briefly

Marlborough is a town situated in the valley of the River Kennet in Wiltshire, with a mix of old and new buildings, including many detached houses. Marlborough sits at an elevation of around 135 metres, near the North Wessex Downs, and is surrounded by smaller villages like Mildenhall and Manton. Marlborough has a population of approximately 8422 people and is located near the Marlborough Downs, an area of scenic countryside. Marlborough is also close to the village of Ogbourne Maizey and the city of Salisbury, which is 24.4 miles away.

## AdBlue drains across Wiltshire, Marlborough included

AdBlue jobs in Marlborough are passed to vans that cover the places near it — Mildenhall, Manton as well as Ogbourne Maizey — and much of Wiltshire further out, throughout SN postcodes.

Close to a boundary, or somewhere tricky to pin down? Asking is better than assuming, and so ring.

No moving is needed. In Marlborough, a riverside town, a mobile service fits: your vehicle is emptied where it stands, be it in a driveway, a residential street, a car park or a filling station.

## AdBlue in a diesel tank around Marlborough: the cost of fixing it

Every job is different, so not one fixed quote would be fair.

Whether the motor has been running, and for how long, comes first in what moves the cost. How much AdBlue was put in comes next, and then the location of your car, since an open driveway is easier for our van to get to safely than a tight space behind Masonic Hall.

With that reason, every enquiry from Marlborough opens with the same trio — which fluid was put in, how much, whether the engine ran — ahead of any figure.

When those are answered, a range turns into one fixed figure.

The quote is quoted on the call, before anyone sets off; payment happens on the day, by card or over the phone, and nothing upfront.

As the van is travelling, dig out your insurance: many include misfuelling.

## Marlborough: still alongside the vehicle?

Then the most useful thing you can do is nothing to the vehicle.

Engine off, keys out, ignition off.

Ring 0333 366 0103: AdBlue, roughly how much, plus whether it ran are everything our engineers ask. Petrol in Diesel takes over the remainder throughout Wiltshire, Marlborough too.
