# Poyle: AdBlue in the Diesel Tank? Leave It Off

If AdBlue has gone into the diesel tank, leave the engine off and leave your ignition off.

Water with urea mixed in it: that's AdBlue.

Unlike fuel, it neither burns nor mixes, and nothing happens till your motor pulls it through.

In Poyle, AdBlue in a diesel tank caught before your motor runs usually comes down to a drain and a thorough flush, just where the car is.

Before anything, call us on 0333 366 0103.

## AdBlue in your diesel tank around Poyle: the first few minutes

Things to do:

- So nobody can turn your ignition on, take the keys out.

- Close to moving traffic? So put your hazards on.

- Which product, and roughly what amount? Save the bottle or the till receipt, and we can know.

- Call us from where you are. A postcode starting SL3 0, or the name of the closest street, brings our van to you without a search.

Things not to do:

- Shifting your car even a few yards is no reason to start your motor.

- Many diesels run their pump the moment the ignition comes on, and so leave it off.

- Pouring in extra diesel does not work: AdBlue separates out rather than blending.

- Any driving at all is to be avoided, even a short distance along Bath Road.

- No draining it yourself, either, at the roadside.

Rolling the vehicle away from the island is a job for staff to help with, whichever Poyle forecourt you're on, the BP included.

Parked on your own driveway? Then it stays just as it is.

## AdBlue in a diesel tank, and what it does there

Not the motor but the exhaust is where AdBlue is meant to go.

From a dedicated tank it is fed straight to your exhaust, treating what your engine emits.

Nothing in it is meant to pass through a fuel pump, and nothing in a fuel pump is designed to handle it.

Poured in with your diesel, it keeps apart instead of blending — entirely different from fuel.

It is heavier than diesel, so it sinks and gathers at the bottom of your tank, which is where the pickup pulls fuel from.

The first thing your fuel system pulls through, once it runs, is the AdBlue. So a vehicle that had AdBlue poured in on a drive in Horton last night, and has not been started since, is still the simple case: the AdBlue is lying at the bottom of that tank, and nothing has drawn it in.

After it's drawn in, the harm comes in two forms.

As its water goes, the urea left behind crystallises, and the crystals block filters and settle in fine passages. And it's corrosive to some of the metals a fuel system is made from, and so it keeps working on the components it hits for as long as it stays there.

Pipes carrying AdBlue mean harm by morning for a car parked around Poyle. Only inside your tank, it stays the same.

Water lubricates nothing. The injection pump and each injector need diesel running past them, so the water part damages them by itself.

## Why is AdBlue in a diesel regularly the bigger fault?

Fill a diesel with petrol by mistake at the another forecourt nearby, and this issue is thinned fuel.

Harm just comes from running on it. Mixed into the diesel and sitting in the tank, it causes nothing.

AdBlue in a diesel is a problem of the wrong substance altogether.

Not burning, it can't just be run through.

Crystals and corrosion remain through the next tankful, and AdBlue separates again from the diesel, and so watering it can't work. Hence the flush matters so much, and trying your engine "to see" does more harm here than nearly any other slip — in Stanwell Moor or the centre of Poyle equally.

The same good news applies as with petrol.

Never run? Then the AdBlue waits only inside the tank, the simplest section of the whole system to clear, wherever your car has stopped around Berkshire.

## How AdBlue ends up in a diesel tank in Poyle

In dim light, two caps side by side — the AdBlue cap and the diesel cap, now and then behind a single flap — may look the same. No one intends it; many layouts allow it.

A bottle bought while heading home and tipped in outside the house, rather than at the filling station, is the typical story.

The ways it takes place are few and familiar.

Halfway through the morning drop-off, the dashboard warns, and outside Pippins School the top-up is rushed.

Near Poyle Road, a driver pours a container in on that drive after work.

Another pattern: dim light, the car park by Punch Bowl, and a driver using that flap for the first time.

It takes place most in the cars motorists know least: a hire car, a new motor, a company car, or the second vehicle of a household with one diesel and one petrol.

Keep it off: that is the first step to the same mistake, anywhere in Poyle or the remainder of Berkshire you are.

## AdBlue in your diesel tank in Poyle, and the motor started?

Then that tank is no longer where the AdBlue is.

Given any running time, it travels to the injection pump and every injector, having passed via the fuel filter and lines.

Lumpy running, smoke, lost power, dashboard lights or cutting out: any may appear, perhaps part way across Poyle or coming back from Pippins Park.

Stop as soon as it is safe, switch off, and don't restart the vehicle to check.

More of it is pulled through with each start.

On the M25, under a mile from Poyle, the first junction is where to exit, and somewhere safe is where to park — not driving on.

Hopping across Poyle to the car park by St Thomas is one matter; driving towards Westminster, under 25 miles away, is something else, because every mile pushes the AdBlue deeper in. So distance matters.

Tell us roughly how far it had come.

Once the engine has run, the flush includes more, and all of it is done where your car has ended up.

Noticed early, it very seldom leaves long-term damage.

## What draining AdBlue from a diesel involves around Poyle

The car stays where it is, whether that is a road beside Colnbrook Strict Baptist Chapel, a driveway, a lay-by or a forecourt in Poyle, and our van travels to it.

Three answers shape the job, and so first our technicians ask which fluid went in, about the amount, and whether the motor has turned over.

Next, emptying the tank on the spot takes out the contaminated diesel along with the AdBlue together.

With AdBlue, far more than with petrol, flushing counts: the fuel system is cleaned right through because what remains will not flush away unaided.

Fresh diesel goes in after the filter is cleaned — or replaced, when it needs to be — and then your vehicle is tested.

The majority of these jobs are a half-hour job once our engineers get there, if the motor has not run.

The pumps are explosion-proof, safe on a busy forecourt and quiet enough to use outside a house after dark.

Finally, the system is primed with new diesel.

Starting the engine comes next, and then you set off from where the car is parked, by Heathrow Terminal 5 Rail or on a drive in Poyle.

Our technicians confirm it runs properly on fresh diesel before we go.

No garage is needed at any stage, with the entire job done on the spot.

You receive a VAT invoice and an engineer report after that, which is what insurers want.

## About Poyle

Poyle is a small village in Berkshire, situated on the riverside at a low elevation of around 22 metres. Poyle lies close to the neighbouring villages of Colnbrook and Longford, and is characterized by its semi-detached housing stock. Poyle is located near to Sutton and is within commuting distance of London, being approximately 16.7 miles from the city centre. Poyle has a population of around 1469 residents.

## AdBlue drains across Poyle and Berkshire

The vans that answer AdBlue call-outs around Poyle also cover the places around it, Colnbrook, Longford and Sutton among them, and most of Berkshire beyond, across the SL postcode area.

Close to a boundary, or somewhere awkward to pin down? Asking beats assuming, and so ring.

A van that comes to you suits Poyle, a village: you have no need to bring the car to us, because our engineers drain it on the spot, in a driveway, a residential street, a car park or a filling station.

## What AdBlue in a diesel tank costs to put right in Poyle

Each job is different, so no single price would be honest.

The cost shifts first with how long, if at all, your engine has been running, and next with the quantity of AdBlue that went in. After that it depends on where the vehicle is and whether a van can reach it safely, which is easier on an open driveway than in a tight gap behind Colnbrook Museum.

What got in, what quantity, plus whether it ran: every Poyle enquiry opens with precisely that, before any quote, never after.

Those replies narrow a range right down to one number.

Priced on the call before the engineer heads out, it is settled on the day — card or phone, nothing in advance.

Look at your policy while we are on the way: many include misfuelling cover.

## In Poyle and still next to the vehicle?

Not touching the car is, right now, the most useful thing open to you.

Engine off, keys out, ignition off.

Call 0333 366 0103 and tell us it's AdBlue, about how much, and if it has run. Petrol in Diesel takes it from there, around Poyle or anywhere around Berkshire.
