# Avoiding AdBlue in a Diesel Tank in Wepre: Why It Occurs

Pause here for a moment when your diesel tank already holds AdBlue in it: ignition off, engine off, then ring 0333 366 0103.

In Wepre, catching it before your motor turns normally means draining and a full flush on the spot.

Not happened yet? Below, the rest of the page covers the reasons it takes place and the ways to avoid it for good.

## AdBlue in a diesel car: two tanks, two fillers

Plenty of modern diesels on the roads around Wepre and Shotton carry two liquids, not one. Diesel goes to the engine.

Your exhaust, not your motor, is where AdBlue ends up: dosed into the fumes to fresh it, from its own tank.

Each tank has its own filler.

Some motors keep the AdBlue filler in the boot or under the bonnet; a lot more place both together under one flap.

Topping up your diesel side at the petrol pump goes on all the time.

Rarely filled, AdBlue normally goes in out of a bottle, poured by a driver who has to stop and think which cap it needs.

It's in the gap that the slip lives.

## Wepre: how AdBlue in your diesel tank takes place

Carelessness rarely explains it. Instead is three things coming up together.

The warning comes first. As AdBlue runs low the vehicle tells you, and if it runs out completely, the car goes into limp mode. So the top-up is done in a hurry: on a drive off Firbrook Avenue before work, or in the car park at Custom House on the way home.

Unfamiliar vehicles come second, too. Hire cars, new vehicles and company cars place their fillers differently, and habit reaches for the cap used on the old one.

Third, the bottle goes in: a diesel filler or AdBlue one, it slides in just as easily, and once the tip begins, no part stops it.

It's a few seconds, whether in Connahs Quay or bang in the heart of Wepre.

## The AdBlue filler and the diesel filler: telling them apart

Whether a Wepre forecourt or a drive over in Aston, spend a couple of seconds on these before anything is poured in.

- The cap. The AdBlue cap is frequently blue, or marked "AdBlue". Your diesel cap usually is not. Read it instead of going by position.

- On many motors, size tells: AdBlue gets the smaller filler neck.

- Look inside your fuel flap: many motors have a label there saying which fuel goes where.

- In your boot or under the bonnet: that is where your filler sits if it is not by your diesel cap, and the handbook says which.

- Picking up a hire or company car, say at the car park outside Shotton? Ask the person who drove the car last before leaving, rather than once the light comes on.

## How to top up without AdBlue in your diesel tank

A routine for the day the light comes on, wherever in Flintshire that is.

- Stop on level, engine off, with time in hand — never rushing on the side of Alwen Drive.

- Say "AdBlue" out loud as you unscrew the cap, once you find the AdBlue filler and read it. Daft, perhaps, yet it does the trick.

- The diesel cap remains on. Where the two share a flap, confirm it's shut before lifting the bottle.

- Gently is best, through the bottle's own spout, until it is full or the bottle runs out.

- Close the cap and check again. Make sure the diesel cap was never opened. Only then start your car.

Stop there if you find, at stage two or three, that you've already poured into your diesel side.

Don't carry on to stage five.

## Put AdBlue in the diesel tank in Wepre already?

Brief order, then. Top of that: the motor stays unstarted.

Keep the ignition off as well, because on many diesels it alone starts the pump.

AdBlue does not mix with diesel — it sinks to the bottom of the tank, where your fuel is pulled from — so don't top up with diesel to thin it.

Ask the staff to help roll the vehicle away from the pump if you're on a forecourt — the Esso, the another forecourt nearby or somewhere else.

Leave it where it is if you're on your own drive around Wepre.

If the motor has already run, stop as soon as it is safe then switch off.

Wepre lies under 10 miles from the M56; on it, take the next junction.

About how far did it go? Hopping across Wepre is less a job than a trip of under 10 miles towards Chester, so say.

## What happens when our technicians arrive around Wepre

By Bishop Wilson Church of England Primary School, near The Salvation Army - Connah's Quay or on your own driveway: wherever the vehicle has stopped, our engineers come to it.

Which fluid went in, the quantity, and whether it ran: our technicians ask since those answers set both work and price.

Nobody heads out until you have had our price over the phone.

After that: a drain, then a thorough flush of the whole system.

AdBlue crystallises and is corrosive to some of the metals in a fuel system, and so it doesn't wash out on its own — which is why the flush matters more here than with petrol.

Once your filter has been flushed — or replaced, where needed — fresh diesel is added, and finally the vehicle gets tested.

Before leaving, our engineers start the car and check that it is running smoothly.

Most jobs are finished in about half an hour once our technicians get there, as long as the engine has not run — and the pumps our engineers use are fine on a busy forecourt and quiet at night outside a house.

Your insurer usually wants an engineer's report and the VAT invoice, and you get both at the end. Payment is on the day, with no deposit.

While we travel, take a look at your insurance documents; plenty carry cover for misfuelling.

## AdBlue drains across Flintshire, Wepre included

As a residential suburb, Wepre shares its vans nearby places — Higher Shotton, Golftyn — all the way through CH postcodes and the surrounding area around them.

Quickest of all: quote a CH5 4 postcode for the van.

Your car does not need to move.

Our engineers drain it where it is — a side street near Connah's Quay Town Council, a lay-by on the way to Central Park, a driveway.

Tricky to explain, like the back of Seion Methodist Church? By a county line? Asking beats guessing, and so ring.

## The short version for Wepre drivers

Before you tip, read the cap.

Petrol in Diesel empties it on the spot, anywhere in Flintshire, if AdBlue has gone in your diesel tank regardless — and so leave the car off then phone 0333 366 0103.
