# AdBlue in a Diesel Tank in Woodlands? Don't Start It

AdBlue in the diesel tank? Then keep your engine off — and your ignition as well.

AdBlue is urea dissolved in water.

It doesn't burn, it doesn't mix with diesel, and the harm it does begins when your fuel system draws it in.

If your motor has not run yet, AdBlue in a diesel tank is generally drained and carefully purged where your car stands around Woodlands.

Before anything, ring us on 0333 366 0103.

## AdBlue in the diesel tank around Woodlands: the first few minutes

Do these:

- Take your keys out, and so nobody switches your ignition on.

- Put the hazards on if you're at all near moving traffic.

- The empty bottle or the receipt shows us the fluid and the quantity, so don't throw it out.

- Call right where you are. Say a DN6 7 postcode or the nearest street name, and nobody has to hunt for you.

Do not do these:

- Don't start the engine, even for a moment to shift your car.

- Turning your key to ignition alone sets your pump going on plenty of diesels. Skip it.

- AdBlue does not dilute in diesel — it separates out — so adding more diesel won't thin it.

- Any driving at all is best avoided, even a short stretch along Lawn Avenue.

- No emptying it yourself, either, at the verge.

The staff on duty at any Woodlands filling station — the JET included — will usually lend a hand rolling it aside if you ask.

On the drive, the vehicle stays just as it is.

## AdBlue in a diesel tank, and what it does there

Made for the exhaust, AdBlue has no business in your motor.

Its own tank holds it, and from there it's fed into the exhaust, where it treats the gas.

A fuel pump is not made to cope with it, and AdBlue was never supposed to travel through one.

It does not combine. Once it is poured into the tank, AdBlue behaves not at all like diesel.

Heavier than diesel, it sinks and pools below it — the very place the intake sucks from.

A vehicle filled on a drive in Pickburn overnight and not started since is the straightforward case. Nothing has sucked the AdBlue up so far — but when the motor runs, that's what is pulled first, directly from the bottom of the tank.

After it's pulled in, the damage comes in two forms.

What remains once the water evaporates is urea, which turns into crystals: they settle in tiny passages and clog filters. Worse, it attacks some metals in a fuel system, and carries on until it is flushed out.

A motor left sitting in Woodlands with AdBlue already in its lines is worse by the morning; one with AdBlue only in its tank isn't.

Then there is the water: it brings no protection to the components that need it the most — the injection pump and every injector.

## AdBlue in a diesel: why it's frequently worse than petrol

Fill a diesel with petrol by mistake at the BP, and this problem is thinned fuel.

Damage only comes from running on it. Blended into the diesel and left in that tank, it does nothing.

AdBlue in a diesel is an issue of the wrong substance altogether.

Not burning, it cannot simply be run through.

It doesn't stay mixed, and so it can't be weakened. And crystals and corrosion don't wash out with the next tank of fuel. That is why the flush matters more with AdBlue than with petrol, and why starting the engine "to see" costs more here than nearly anywhere else, whether the vehicle is in Carcroft Common or the middle of Woodlands.

The same good news holds as with petrol.

Clearing a tank is the easiest job on a fuel system, and without running, the AdBlue stays in it — anywhere across South Yorkshire the car has stopped.

## How AdBlue ends up in a diesel tank around Woodlands

Plenty of cars put the AdBlue filler alongside the diesel one, now and then behind one flap, and after dark the two can appear identical. Nobody means it.

Mostly it's never the forecourt: a driver buys a container heading home and tips it in outside the house.

A couple of familiar ways cover most cases.

Rushing, outside Outwood Primary Academy Woodlands, after a warning lamp flashed on during the school run, someone refills the car.

A bottle is poured in at the end of the day on a drive just off Harold Avenue.

Or the car is topped up in the car park at Foresters Arms, in poor light, by somebody who has never opened that flap before.

Rented vehicles, new cars, fleet motors, or the spare vehicle in a home with both fuels: the least known vehicles get it the most.

Wherever around South Yorkshire, Woodlands as well, the slip does not change, and nor does the first step: keep it switched off.

## AdBlue in the diesel tank in Woodlands, and the motor started?

Then that tank is no longer where the AdBlue is.

It's been sucked through your filter and the lines, and if the motor ran for any time, it has reached the high-pressure pump and your injectors.

Lumpy running, smoke from the exhaust, dropping power, dashboard lights or stalling: any might appear, maybe part way across Woodlands or coming back from Adwick Park.

Once safe, pull over and switch it off — with no restarting to test.

Each start pulls more of that through.

Woodlands sits under a mile from the A1(M); if you were on it, exit by the first junction and stop somewhere safe instead of driving on.

Each mile carries the AdBlue deeper into your system. That is why a hop across Woodlands to park beside All Saints and a drive of under 5 miles for Doncaster are very different jobs.

Tell us about how far it had come.

Wherever the car came to a halt is where all of it gets done, even with more to rinse out after the engine has been run.

Lasting damage is very unusual when it's spotted early.

## Emptying AdBlue in a diesel in Woodlands: what it takes

We come to the vehicle, wherever it has stopped around Woodlands: a side street near Adwick Leisure Centre, a drive, a lay-by or a forecourt.

Three replies shape the work, and so first we ask what got in, roughly what quantity, plus whether your motor has run.

Next, draining that tank right there removes the contaminated diesel and the AdBlue in one go.

With AdBlue, far more than with petrol, the flush matters: the whole system is flushed all the way through since what remains won't wash away unaided.

The fuel filter is flushed, or replaced where it needs to be; fresh diesel goes in; and your car is tested.

Not run? In that case count on roughly half an hour on site for most jobs.

Explosion-proof pumps mean a busy forecourt safe to work on, and they run quiet enough not to disturb the street at night.

Finally, the fuel system is primed with fresh diesel.

Then our technicians fire it up and you head off, whether from a parking space outside Adwick or a drive in Woodlands.

It is tested on new diesel to confirm it runs properly before we leave.

No garage is required at any stage, with the entire job done then and there.

Insurers ask for a VAT invoice and an engineer report, and both come afterwards.

## About Woodlands, briefly

Woodlands is a suburban area located near Doncaster in South Yorkshire, sitting at a low elevation of around 10 metres above sea level. Woodlands is characterized by its predominantly semi-detached housing stock, reflecting the typical residential development of the region. Woodlands is situated close to nearby places such as Adwick le Street and Highfields, and is home to a population of approximately 4885 residents. Woodlands is also within commuting distance to larger cities, with London being around 149 miles away.

## AdBlue drains across Woodlands and South Yorkshire

AdBlue jobs around Woodlands are passed to vans that cover the places near it — Adwick le Street, Woodlands East plus Highfields — and most of South Yorkshire beyond, across DN postcodes.

Ring and ask instead of guessing when you're by a border, or somewhere awkward to explain.

Woodlands is a residential suburb, and an on-site drain suits it: whether your car is on a home drive, a residential street, a car park or a forecourt, our engineers drain it where it stands, so it never needs to be shifted to us.

## What does AdBlue in a diesel tank cost to sort out around Woodlands?

Since each callouts vary, a single figure wouldn't be fair.

Whether the motor has been running, and for how long, comes first in what changes the price. How much AdBlue got in comes next, and then the location of the vehicle, since an open driveway is simpler for a van to get to safely than a tight space behind Adwick Town Hall.

That's why every call from Woodlands starts with the same three questions, asked before giving a figure, not after: what was put in, how much, and whether it's run.

The answers turn a range into a straight quote.

The quote is quoted on the call, before a van sets off; settling up comes on the day, by card or over the phone, and nothing upfront.

While the van is on the way, dig out your insurance: many cover misfuelling.

## Still alongside your car around Woodlands?

Then the most handy thing you can do is nothing to the car.

Keys out, motor off, ignition off.

Ring 0333 366 0103: AdBlue, the amount, and if the engine ran is everything we need. Petrol in Diesel takes over the remainder throughout South Yorkshire, Woodlands included.
